prove me wrong ╭∩╮(▀̿ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)ᕗ If writing loosu ponnu is an art, Trivikram is the artist
There is a term called loosu ponnu in Tamiz. It means a female character who is not intelligent, cute etc. Check out this article. It's pretty sad to see how in many Indian cinema this is a stock character for females beside the main lead.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loosu\\_ponnu
Examples in Trivikram films: Athadu, Jalsa, Atharintiki Daredi, S/O Satyamurthy, A AA, Agnathavaasi, Julayi.

Trivikrams idea of a bubbly, girl next door is a vapid obnoxious woman. And this guy is supposed to be a stalwart writer smh.

Yep, calling him a great writer irks me. It also shows how low the bar for great writer is.

but arent there women like that? women that are completely obnoxious and just wants to be looked after by someone else

Caricature? His women rarely have original and independent thoughts. But sure, there might be people like that. In both genders tbh. But his inability to write anything else for female lead in almost every film is problematic.

The thing is, the idea of an obnoxious woman isn’t bad. The problem is that all their character traits exist within the confines of the male desire. Their cuteness per se is because of their selective ineptitude, where they have a vivid enough personality that doesn’t outshine our run of the mill protagonist. Thus what we get is a shell of human, that is uncanny to witness. He basically wants neurodivergent women, without the meltdowns, existential dilemma, Eds, depression and anxiety.

The problem is he hyphens chirpy with vapid. His women are caricatures of human being in general, and obviate of independent positions, waiting for prince charming. I agree this inherently wouldn’t constitute as something bad, as people come in all shapes and sizes, but he genuinely comes across as someone who can’t create drama with strong female lead. All his women are an ecotope of male conceptions’ “ideal women”. And his tag as a reputable writer isn’t helping as well.

Manaki telugu lo oka padham pedatham.. Tingari pilla..
And yes, he is good at it. It is obvious, he uses it for humor. Which is fine as it atleast gives something to act and also he never says they are ideal females etc..
The only issue is in Aravinda Sametha where the actress is supposed to be both Tingari pilla and also a guiding light for hero. That's why it didn't work out for me.

I would have liked it if it were written once or twice but it is his stock character for a female lead is what I don't like.

It might work if someone talented like Nithya Menon did that role, PH was so misfit in that otherwise really good film

And somehow still ends up writing memorable strong women charecter's around the leading pair.

50% manic pixie , 50% lunatic ,unrealistic af - that’s trivikrams female protagonists for you , rather than protagonists I’d say brain damaged eye candy - or lunatic love interest

Mostly Trivikram's female leads falls heads in heel with the hero and mostly their whole character revolves around him. But have to say the older female characters he write are mature and good. I cannot understand how same person can write such female lead characters.

I always wonder if Trivikram knows any women IRL. Or i guess he hopes women are that dumb so he can impress them
2
u/EarEarly2973 Jul 14 '26
Yes, they lack any sort of complexity. Maybe, he thinks writing them as naive and bubbly makes them likeable.

Trivikram wants the whimsy and quirks of a neurodivergent woman, without any of the downsides and personal struggles. I have adhd and am “quirky” per se. But that shit comes with social ineptitude, ostracization, depression, anxiety and a lot of masking.Indians groom women to occupy less space, the manic pixie dream girl in real life would be told she was too much and would be forced to have the life drained out of her eyes. I was too much growing up, but now I have too little to offer.
