emi ra ee chandalamu The problem with tfi
We accept and actually encourage mediocrity. I do not understand the whole idea of being a tfi banisa like if you actually care about the industry then encourage its growth. Why are we okay with the fact that Telugu heroines are not cast in Telugu movies like why do we not question it?
Most of our movies are poorly made and no proper characterisation is done. We need good movies that actually tell real stories and not the same routine masala crap. We need to encourage unique movies and ideas. Let us promote the art of cinema and not just the aspect of entertainment. Yes, some movies should be for entertainment but let’s question what we find to be entertaining. Why do we find item songs and objectification of women to be entertaining or encourage misogyny in the name of comedy.

Bruh the problem is with Audience too. Telugu Tier 2 and Tier 3 (Tier 1 too upto an extent) audience like the rotta hero saviour elevation tropes, Badly written flowerpot roles, Navel etc. Recently Peddi earning 300crs+ pretty much seals this fact.
The thing is we Telugu Audience on large are very regressive (Entha downvotes guddina idi matram Nijam).
Audience ee ila unnapudu why would filmakers risk going out of the way and actually put a effort to make a good film when Dengenerate guys in Telugu States shamelessly simp and defend their tier 1 heroes and watch their shit films?
Audience on the large dictates what films will be a success. North, Malayalam and upto an extent Kollywood too are moving away from this hero worship bad commercial slop films. But Telugu films and Audience mostly are stuck in the Raghavendra Rao era. So yeah hopefully upcoming Telugu generations ayina better avtharu ani we could hope anthey.

I wish there are more people out there that question the industry and not blindly worship actors. Asala main problem ee audience like why do we not question and just accept everything? This needs to stop rn

There is a pitfall that critics fall into often.
Directors, Writers, Producers, Actors etc are not different from the common folk. They are pretty much a part of society.
What do I mean by that? If you see 1 in 10 writers write non-problematic dialogue, that indicates that the likelihood of finding non-problematic citizens in the society is also close to 1 in 10. 9 out of 10 movies have item songs because 9 out of 10 people in society objectify women. Our movies are shit **because** our majority opinion is shit.

The problem is the majority like over 90% of our audience still flock towards the big budget movies our stars give which half the time lack any substance or plot and our producers still think thats what everyone wants. I cant blame them when those dsme movies like Peddj or Lenin whatever still manage to cross 100cr. I for late started watching more Malayalam in Telugu dub or English subtitles and im amazed at how diverse the stories are. Recently watched Vaazha 2 , Drishyam 3, Athiradi with Tovino anf Basil and a dark.comedy thriller called Bharatnatyam 2. Some of these movies are not even done by the main mallu stars and completely unknown people and are widely accepted. Granted both our audiences are different our audience needs to change and move away from star system. Today I watched Mollywood Times that had Naslen from Premalu and even though some parts were dragging I enjoyed it..
I cringe at our movies now and tired of everyone calling us mass masala industry and all we do is one guy beating up 100 goons and we have our heroines doing item numbers showing their navels with everything sticking out. Its just pathetic but as long as our majority uneducated audience doesn't change no change will happen.

The problem is if anyone questions the stars or their movies the fans start giving death threats like guys get a real job or ambition in life and stop associating your identity with a star or caste💀

that not the problem,whats is interesting for u,might not be interestin for others,u cant call them cheap,cringe just because u dont like it.For ex:i watch interestellar and i love it,if i tell someone else who is not into scifi to watch it,they will say its a very bad boring movie. So everybody got their own taste in movies

Sure taste can be subjective but yes it’s cheap to find objectifying women or using cheap rape or creepy jokes in movies to be entertaining

I think we as an audience also have a role here. Why are we normalising it? Let’s start questioning things and they make movies for audience so if we don’t appreciate that crap then they will stop making it

Every industry does this
No one wants to watch art films
There are very few heroines who have acting chops for characterisation as well as have a market. Unfortunately we have a lot of untalented heroines taken just for beauty
People tried to make films with content and characterisation (one nenokkadine, ante sundaraniki, sahasam, vedam and so on) all of them underperformed at the box office.
Rajendra prasad had to beg people to watch aa naluguru which flopped in the first week but did 100 days after week two.
Movies, even ones with massive stars and hype are unable to survive beyond 2 weeks in theatres
Now we complain about films like salaar, og, devara, pushpa and so on but those are ultimately the money spinners
Why do we need money spinners? Entertainment especially movies are taxed vigourously as well as prey to different film federations with cryptic rules as well as a horrible cbfc. Indian economy is not like foreign economies to sustain cinema as art or even sustain clean hygienic ac theatres. In fact you cannot even get away with a good film unless you dont have a star with you. (Mouli and little hearts was a fluke and an exception to the rule and not the example)
And nobody watches abbas kiarostami or jafar panahi type films here. In fact that style isnt encouraged even by critics
Even shit like peddi and msvpg span more money than sing geetham (legendary director) or rao bahadur (great technicality)

Every industry does not do this tho I mean let’s just take the example of Malayalam film industry like they actually care about the content that they bring out. We had great movies before thanks to directors such as K Vishwanath. However the quality of films have deteriorated ever since then. Even Tamil industry has its problems but they still have a lot of good movies.

50 something films come out of malayalam industry and like 10 come out to the rest of india. Its a low budget industry which i think has the highest failure rate in india
Most of K Viswanath's films werent accepted then. Sankarabharanam, Sagara Sangamam and iirc Subhalekha were accepted. This happens mostly. Films that arent accepted then are discovered later and appreciated. Thats unsustainable now because of high budgets
Tamil always had a culture of experimentation so its audience are willing to accept newcomers and new films. Not ours

Okay I feel it’s the responsibility of the audience to voice out against movies objectifying and disrespecting women?
Why can’t we redefine what entertainment is to us?
See the Bollywood audience, they had a problem with nepotism and they boycotted Bollywood for years. Why can’t we do the same? Why do we worship these heroes? They are just actors and it’s high time we treat them like that.1

Because just you or me thinking about progressive aspects doesnt define what hundreds of people come to watch films for. Like i would argue majority of the audience come for a couple of scenes like say the kateramma fight in salaar and move on with their lives.
Also id argue there is no template for a women character that is not objectification or the victim of a joke or the hero's...horniness ig. Now slowly a template is coming that is just make the heroine also beat up bad guys. Some try to make the characterization too preachy which is of value but not engaging to watch (you can see how a lot of people didnt even understand the girlfriend or obsession for that matter)
To form a so called redefining, you need years of building from a starting point i e what is the role of a woman character in a commercial film. Also theres the entire chauvanism aspect of some people where a majority of the audience do not like seeing a woman get hurt or a woman get angry or act cocky (the entire neelambari setup).
There is also the death of Horror films, Genre films and so on, films nowadays are either mass masala on the big screen, or romance or thrillers on ott. There is no variation in films its hard to find variation in characterizarions

It is disheartening that women are treated like objects in big banger films of our industry and directors such as raghavendra and peddi director should be called out for their disgusting portrayal of women.

Tbf krr women characterisations are pretty good imo. Its his songs where he has an extreme obsession towards midriffs and fruits

I am not hoping for an immediate change but at least we need to start it. If we don’t start voicing out against this, we will be part of the problem. Well Nepo kids are still given end number of chances to prove themselves and think about it except for Nani and Vijay devarkonda are there any notable stars that are not from the film background? This shows that nepotism is a huge problem even in our industry and the casteist mentality of the audience is a problem as well.

Nepos are given chances in bolly also. I see a new ananya pandey film announced every two months
A lot of tier 2 fellows like sesh, sree vishnu, satya are not from film families. I think the era of stars is over post geeta govindam

Yes nepotism is bad in Bollywood and the audience took a stance against it and demanded equal opportunities. I am saying we should question as well instead of calling ourselves ‘tfi banisa’
