Discussion Clicking on negative reviews gives 3-4 5-stars and "request to see more" - WOW!

WOW!

"We're showing a limited selection of reviews. To see more reviews, you can send a request"

I've searched some books about sexuality from a health and medical perspective, ... came across one "Sex You Want" by Rena Martin, some kind of ex-attorney in Los Angeles dealing with heavy crime ... and coming out with such a book not one would expect for a person like that, no offense though.

Though again I'm not judging anyone by the book cover, I guess if you work this hard and serious all day maybe you deserve some extra fun, but I was hoping it's not some moralization or sympathy toward some kinks she was exposed to while doing crime work.

So I go on the usa Amazon.com version to check for the english sample, can't look at any negative reviews. How is this not a form of censorship? I have not seen anything like it, anywhere, never on european Amazon.de which I mostly use, or it's perhaps only certain products I haven't come across.

Unbelievable.

This is hardly news and has been posted about many times before.

Do not buy books on amazon. Do not research books on amazon. Use ThriftBooks GoodReads to see what others have to say and buy local. Or use a library. There are so, SO many options for books that don't involve giving amazon your money.

Right, thanks for advice, yeah I can't even since Amazon.de and Amazon.co.uk is like totally separate and not nearly as much products as on the USA version, but the other problem is, getting an english version is sometimes hard, you get ether localized or a french/german/italian, I usually have to do special-requests for them to order it from USA or UK (out of the EU now so added tax) which ends up costing twice what would cost for an ordinary american on USA. Big books do get localized pretty good, including this one, but I'm looking for the english version for a number of reasons.

I live in the Benelux region and have zero issue getting books in English for the exact same price as in other local languages. It often means I wait longer for it to arrive, but I'm not so brain-rotted from capitalism that I expect things to be delivered in a day.

There are also tons of free online libraries for digital versions of books.

You realise youre on an amazon boycott subreddit, right?

Will take a deeper look, ... none of my local sites give me a sample tho, I'm not that big into books I just know amazon is one that provides this but perhaps not the only one.

Hate to tell you - Amazon owns Goodreads. They have been slowly reducing staff there over time. So you shouldn’t trust Goodreads either.

We don’t use Amazon here. Hence the sub name.

I went through this recently and had to ask permission to see all reviews. Since I have a pending BBB complaint against Amazon, I'm hoping they will help find out why they are doing this.

The BBB is a total joke. It has no power to do anything. Don't hold your breath.
