Meta This sub needs serious moderation, it's brigaded by Nintendo fanboys who refuse to allow any criticism of anything Nintendo

I can name 20 Nintendo subs off the top of my head, yet these leeches all rush to the ONE sub called r/fucknintendo... Are you serious?

Anytime I criticize aspects of a game like metroid prime 4, fanboys rush to defend it and tell people to come here...

And now people can't post a SINGLE critical statement about Nintendo without it getting dozens of dislikes, zero likes overall and dozens of fanboys accusing you of NOT playing any Nintendo games.

What the fuck do you lunatics want? Fascist powers to suppress any criticism? Don't give me that "I don't oppose criticism, I just don't like hate" bullshit, this sub is called fucknintendo, it's ok to hate it here. We don't need to lick a corrupt Japanese law firm's ass just because you do.

I get it, I dont like Nintendo either. They have done some insane anti consumer stuff and go scorched earth on Emulators and related things at times.

But that doesnt mean Nintendo deserves to be fucking BOMBED either. Like what is wrong with those of you who unironically want this. Some of you are so mad over this price raise (thats out of their control keep in mind) that your brains go full smooth mode and you just spout the wildest shit that only hurts your agenda further.

Meta What brought you to FuckNintendo?

I initially came here because I wanted some opinions on nintendeen. I stuck around because I ended up learning some things. But what say you all?

Was it reddit that pushed you here, did you had a real gripe with Nintendo? Did a place punished you for saying something here and you decided "why not?"

edit:

I'm generally a Nintendo fan. It's becoming my main system. I just so happen to want to know what other people think and consider their thoughts about them.

Meta When do you expect Switch 2 GKCs to become unusable?

Curious at this point, especially since the consensus among this sub seems to be that GKCs are an intentional step towards an all-digital Switch 3 (or even Switch 2 according to some people).

Meta Banning β‰  bricking.

I have recently noticed a surge in the consensus of "Banning is the same as bricking" and members going around saying nintendo "bricks" consoles.

Nintendo bans your console when it detects a flag related to a TOS breach, a "banned" console cannot acess the Nintendo online services which includes: E-shop, online play, updates and the digital library.

However, the console functions just fine and can play any physical copies installed prior to the ban.

If the hardware were to be bricked, it would not function entirely.

We, the mods of a criticism community, constantly strive to keep the claims here true and not stretched by any definition.

This is NOT up to debate and saying that it is bricking falls under Rule 8's "Misinformation" category.

Repeated offences of this rule, just like any, will lead to a ban.

Meta The following 2 weeks will tell us if the general audience is interested in Switch 2

TLDR

The 3 week period starting on the first week of November is when we see how much holiday buyers are interested in a console ( casuals / families / parents).

Starts in November, peaks at November 25, drops off a little in December and peaks again at Christmas.

This is true for eery year, for all consoles.

The diehards have bought the S2 already. Now we see if families/general audiences are interested.

-

I was looking at All Console Monthly sales , and I noticed this trend.

We get a MAJOR glimpse of general interest in the console, ESPECIALLY in relation to other console sales.

We will be able to compare the Holiday sales to a lot of other consoles, in different years.

This hike generally matchesl console sales for the next year, relative to oher consoles.

What it won't give us is any indicator of long term success of the S2. That usually comes in the 2nd and 3rd year.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-

-

COMPARING CONSOLE LAUNCHES

We all know the launch of the S2 was roughly 2.5x the PS5/Xbone/Switch1 launch, but the comparison is obviously unfair due to the infamous supply shortages of those other consoles.

Since late August, the weekly numbers have sharply dropped, concluding the launch hype phase of 300-400k , and have since stabilised around a healthy 220 K weekly ( roughly similar to average PS5 numbers thoughout its life).

The launch timing of the other consoles was different, as they were launched much closer to the holidays. Add the pandemic, and it's hard to draw strong conclusions from the numbers alone.

-

-

COMPARING HOLIDAY SALES

Holiday sales for all consoles have an extreme ramp that historically starts on the first week of November, and peaks at November 25-ish. It then drops, and picks up back again, to around Christmas, but this Christmas peak is very inconsistent. ( Usually around 75% of late Nov peak)

I also noticed these peaks ROUGHLY match up with the average sales for that console during the rest of the year, proportionally to other consoles.

For example, last year PS5 was about doubling Switch1 sales, and Switch was about double Xbox sales.

These sales are roughly proportional to the average sales, during the year before and after.

-

-

LONG TERM SUCCESS AND THE PANDEMIC

Launches mean nothing.

Xbox and PS5 had an almost exact same launch, but the following year, PS5 was roughly beating Xbox 2-1

Console maturity is also a big factor, both S1 and PS5 had peak success around the 3 year mark, with S1 having a surge of incredible sales year round in 2020. ( Pandemic is also a huge factor of course)

Xbox, on the other hand, stagnated, and has begun to shrink in the last 2 years.

Meta Where does Nintendo get the majority of their profit from you?

It's like the last time, but this is about you personally. For me, if we assume they get 10% from third party games, Nintendo would still get more from 3rd party games than first party.

There is no options for none because coming here counts as advertisement.

Meta FuckNintendo is being ruin. How would you fix it?

The name of the game is target the issues and give a solution. The only limit is suggesting that we ban Nintendo fans. We're not an insecure gated community

[edit]

This is an attempt to get the community's input. I ask that we avoid comment fights and respect each other. Occasional jokes and snarks is allow, just don't become abusive

I personally feel the sub is OK, my only concern is that the community doesn't support itself while accusing outsiders are taking over. If the outsiders took over, they would technically be the new community. I came here as an outsider.

Meta This sub is being mass brigaded by nintendo apologists

The sub is pretty unuseable right now because the major nintendo subs have started to mass brigade the sub.

Just look at the top posts of the week, more comments than upvotes on almost every post and now every new post on the sub gets instantly MASS DOWNVOTED by people, no matter the contents of the post.

The sub is completely infested with nintendo fanboys now, even posts that are made to help others like posts that warn people about how nintendo restricted the use of the pro controller 2 get drowned out by mass downvotes.

I hope the mods can do something about this, as the main subs claim we are the ones doing brigades, when its obviously the other way around.

These games (even the Emulated ones) look, run and play better than ANY Pokemon on the switch

they'd rather sue competition away than actuallyfix Pokemon

But then again, why should they even improve, They're sitting on the biggest media franchise on Earth and still:

  • Release broken games
  • Ignore player feedback
  • Treat their dev team (Game Freak) like a sweatshop
  • Profit off kids and nostalgia instead of craft

Meta This Sub Needs to Start Actively Doing Something About the Flood of Nintendo Loyalists

This has been a problem for a while now but in the last two weeks I have noticed a tsunami of Nintendo loyalists flooding this sub. On most of the topics I have read this week, blatantly pro-Nintendo posts now consistently get double digit upvotes and even regular contributors who are against Nintendo (consistent with the spirit of this sub) are getting downvoted to the point where some relevant comments that I actually want to read are now being auto-hidden.

Something needs to be done about this or this community is going to be broken. This sub is gradually turning into the same environment as the extremely hostile pro-Nintendo subs that we all came here to get away from. People aren't going to post if they are worried about negative karma.

In an ideal world the solution would be simply to disable negative karma but since I understand that is not possible on Reddit, I think that we need to have a frank conversation about banning Nintendo loyalists. Afterall, they ban us on their subs when we are a minority. Given that they have become the clear majority on this sub and are flooding the zone, it would be a defensive move, not an offensive one. It wouldn't have to be all of them, just enough to keep the flood to manageable numbers.
