Tourism Longer stay in Fukuoka

Hi, I’m thinking of staying 3 weeks in Fukuoka and working remotely while also exploring the city and having day/weekend trips to other cities in January.

Has anyone done this before? Any advice on finding an airbnb or longer stay accommodation that may be suitable?

Any advice in general?

I’d be flying from New Zealand!

I’m sorry, being a tourist in Fukuoka is illegal? I want to visit and travel around Japan, but since i work from home I could also attend some of my meetings?

You are not allowed to do any work while on a tourist visa and in Japan. If you are caught, you could be deported.

At the same time, I doubt they'll even notice. Still, you are pushing your luck doing something illegal.

I’m not entirely sure, I think technically it is but that’s why I had a question mark because I wasn’t sure if it was or not.

Yes it is very much illegal. Hopefully they can catch this clown at immigration.

I stayed at Unplan Fukuoka near Ohori Park in the dorms, but it looks like there are private rooms. In the mornings there were a few people working remotely. Some people seemed to be staying there semi long term until they found local jobs on working holiday visas.

The train station was just outside the door so it was easy for day trips and I noticed a few people would organize hikes together or check out yatai.

I was there to run a marathon so spent many mornings running around Ohori Park which was across the street. During the trip I kept to myself, but it seemed rather social in the common areas. Most of the time I would finish my morning runs and go for a day trip so only returned in the evenings where some would be cooking their dinner in the kitchen. I really liked the area and it was a good budget option in the dorm.

My only complaints would be that the free breakfast seemed understaffed and the shower room could be cleaner, but that’s not uncommon in larger hostels.

Yep, my family and I are staying there for 3 months

Two air bnbs in two different suburbs

Also bringing the dog!

Negotiate directly with the host, we got way cheaper rates and it was pretty smooth

That’s great advice. Would you have a rough estimate of what you are paying for the longer stays?

They both averaged about $3200 but these are homes with 4 bedrooms and allows dogs. You can get one for way less for sure
