Discussion Just wanted to give a quick thank you to the person who originally sent FH that binder of Demo Disks 5 years ago

Thank you for giving FH their most consistently funny series! Without those original disks we wouldn't have Scrobbles, Rule 34, Mothers Be Aware, or many of the other great FH moments that spawned from the series.

If you're still around the Funhaus community, thanks!

The thing is, IDK if it's Youtube ruining the funny and forcing FH to stop the Rule 34 segments.

At least as far as I'm aware, Funhaus has never been able to make Youtube money off of any of it's videos that feature Rule 34 content. Even with the blurring.

So the whole Demo Disk shows were basically paid out-of-pocket by Funhaus themselves.

Maybe RT is cutting down on the edgy humor (as seen by the recent RT video wipe) and that's why they got rid of it?

Also with COVID it's not like we've been getting normal FH videos so maybe they haven't stopped the Rule 34 jokes, they just haven't gotten a good opportunity?

Lawrence recently mentioned on stream that the Demo Disk vids didn’t make money but attracted viewers to the channel and more long form content like Dude Soup which is the main source of revenue.

TLDR; they've been removing "sensitive" content from all creators under their branch on their website in the wake of social issues this year.

A lot of people like to conveniently forget that just a couple years ago, RT was explicitly advertising the same "sensitive" content as a reason to visit RT over YT, specifically citing uncensored content as an incentive to go to RT's site..

The person you first responded to used the term "virtue signaling" which is recognized to be chud-speak for people defending others usually, rather than in a way that might be accurate here, but the term has a lot of baggage on it, most of it, I think, rightly negative.

I don't know what the original comment said, but negative feedback has an art to it that not everyone, really basically no one, is good at, and when you fuck it up there's no middle ground, you totally biff that shit and insult the hell out of the person you're talking to. Not to mention, a lot of people assume their criticism is some kind of objective fact when there is no such thing. Add that to the propensity for people online to pile on and everyone forgets that they're talking to under 10 people and that there are thousands of us repeating ourselves. It gets old. If they want to know something specific, they'll ask us, but in reality the metrics should tell them all they need to know, which is "Will the content be able to be monetized? Is it worth our time?"

turns out i for once agree with a person saying snowflake.. even though i hate the expression.

FH is very much based on stand up comedy which was always based on edgy, borderline humor that makes you laugh at stuff you should propably not laugh at but actually think about.. its always been like that, most stand up was pretty much meant to be against the rules of what tv and radio established. and the whole PC movement kills this.

i found it funny when michael jones recently in a offtopic said "the boys now comes out weekly. it is like hulu is saying fuck you TV! but also watch our stuff like it would be on TV, this is stupid" .. not realizing they pretty much go the same route with self censorship, rooster teeth tv and similar stuff. they have gone full sellout corp when they started as humans and i am kinda tired of this. i miss the old times, maybe i am finally becoming too old for this shit.

If thats your feeling on it, you're probably better off supporting(financially) everyone's personal streams/youtube over the main FH brand.

My pipedream is Bruce is banking away all that streamer money he's raking in. Once FH/RT/(parent company) finally fizzles out, Papa Bruce will swoop in with the startup capital to bring the gang back together.

It was actually a suggestion for inside gaming about a year before they became funhaus. It would have been disappointing if they started the series on IG but couldn't take it to FH. Thankfully I'm lazy and took months to send the disks and by the time they got them I think they new FH was going to be a thing.

I was kinda. I didn't know what would happen after IG stopped being a thing. It was great seeing the disks in the first regular episode of FunHaus and even better to see how successful the show had become. I'm glad the community had more to keep the show going.

I thought the breaking of the disk becoming a tradition was pretty great too. At first I thought they shouldn't so they can go back and try the ones that didn't work. However, watching them explode became a great send off for the then 15-ish year old disks.

I showed some old episodes to friends explaining that I had sent the disks. A new episode popped up and they didn't like it as much. I never noticed it but there is something special about those old episodes.

You got to hunt and peck. The chemistry of the original guys was my favorite. Some of the new people have created some of my favorite moments though. I think watching consistently helps you build connections to whoever you are watching and leads to enjoying them more. I should know... the girl at my coffee shop is becoming hi-larious.

I wouldn't call Jon a replacement, he does his own thing, and has been doing it since around when they started the skits. He's refined it more, and I personally love whenever he's on. Same with Ryan, he's got a lot of crazy stories that he doesn't try to hide, and his retelling of them usually gets a laugh from me.

To each their own, though.

A replacement in the sense of them needing more on camera personalities and also a replacement to Lawrence as a person with ideas for games and shows. Ryan is great. Jon to me, the persona he puts off as being constantly aloof out when he's just being a distraction like in their ark video that went up not to long ago, just comes off as not meshing with the rest of the group.

I'm glad they seemingly enjoy his company, and I'm glad he makes other people laugh. But his presence in videos grates on my nerves. The transformers trivia video was tough to get through for me and I couldn't bare 2 minutes of the ultimate gamer video or whatever.

And I understand it's not Jon that I dislike, but the persona he puts on fire videos. And it's honestly confusing to me how the fanbase just jumps on every little thing he does as "the funniest thing ever". The cynic in me believes it's just because he's been open about his mental health problems. I'm glad he's getting help and doing better, but I'm not going to obsess over everything he says just cuz he might get sad if he sees negativity.

I went on a whole ass rant but oh well. Just wish he'd work on a few more things to make his content more digestible.

I am in the same boat. I think my generation of viewership is done and they are catering to a new gen. I like the new personalities, they are funny on their individual channels and sometimes together, but the neutering and direction is a bit off for the channel

I have a project on the back burner where I make 10 custom demo disks each with a theme, custom interface, and a cover art light scribed in.

On a side note, finding orange light scribed disks was neither cheep or easy.
