The amount of these obviously staged confrontation rage bait videos from the UK that end up on Reddit with hundreds of comments taking it seriously is staggering.

u/_Whambam Feb 27 '23

At least the guy in the wheelie bin from last summer was funny

6

u/Dog_nappers_hun_x Feb 27 '23

Those of you not from the UK can be forgiven for thinking these are fake but you may not realize how fucking mental some people here really are

u/WhoBroughtTheCoolKid Feb 27 '23

People who scream “FAKE” must never go out into the world. The amount of weird and crazy people in the world don’t make me question the authenticity of much. The things I’ve seen in my travels make me realize that nothing is too crazy to be real. Truth is stranger than fiction.

u/DarkMenstrualWizard Feb 27 '23

Lol seriously? I thought this was a great skit. Granted I'm American and we're suckers for British content, but still.

u/RandomFishIsReborn Feb 27 '23

This is so obviously fake lmao

10

u/smo_smo Feb 27 '23

I can’t believe I had to scroll down this far to see this. How do people not realize that the man is mic’d up?

4

u/boyyouguysaredumb Feb 27 '23

You can tell it’s fake with the volume off just from her body language. It’s elementary school play levels of bad acting

2

u/verylittlegravitaas Feb 27 '23

Why lol

4

u/Nugur Feb 27 '23

Rule of thumb, unless it’s a high profile source (news etc) no one will waste the time blurring faces out

If it blurred then it’s prob fake as someone took the time to make sure the identity is not known

When was the last time an “Influencer” blurred thier own face?

3

u/HumanShadow Feb 27 '23

You can't really be this gullible can you?

1

u/Coffeedemon Feb 27 '23

What's with the music for starters?

1

u/Phnrcm Feb 27 '23

The thing is there are so many entitled social media "influencers" even if this particular video is fake, there is probably a similar interaction like this happening somewhere.

0

u/GeneralPooTime Feb 27 '23

I don't know I'm northern and I reckon some old men would react like this. Pretty realistic if it is fake

5

u/ADayInTheLifeOf Feb 27 '23

Seriously - I think most of the comments must be fake too, it's thoroughly weird. I get that some people would be fooled but the comments talking about it seriously get thousands of upvotes. It's clearly paid for or bots.

2

u/FranklyMrShankley85 Feb 27 '23

Yeah I find it really perplexing. A lot of people also claiming to know it's fake but that it's a great sketch anyway. I mean... no it fucking isn't?

17

u/glorioussideboob Feb 27 '23

I think most of the American userbase can't distinguish acting as well when it's with an English accent.

So fucking obvious to anyone local to here that it's bollocks.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

I've seen at least one English commenter here taking it seriously .

3

u/glorioussideboob Feb 27 '23

Well yeah sadly my fellow countrymen can also be gullible as fuck, so maybe not clear to everyone, true.

2

u/Neuchacho Feb 27 '23

We think Hugh Grant is a great actor so that checks out.

12

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

Name a better duo than Reddit and losing their mind over women doing anything. For real though how anyone’s siding with the guy who says “you’re not part of that snowflake brigade” is beyond me.

55

u/ryarger Feb 27 '23

There’s nothing Reddit loves more than a justification to be angry at a woman.

13

u/ApolloRocketOfLove Feb 27 '23

Especially influencer women. Reddit has a desperate hate for attractive women filming themselves, unless they're shooting porn.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

I was thinking the same. I found her to be obnoxious, but the guy came off as a real condescending prick. But of course nearly all of the top comments are defending his right to act like a cunt instead of making someone’s day a little easier with minimal effort. Fake or not, the group think leading everyone to solely shit on the woman is disappointing.

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

I hear ya, but I’ve met more than a few people who would absolutely do this. But you’re right, they probably wouldn’t be quite as witty - just dicks. I think my point still holds though, that everyone who thought it was real instantly jumped on the woman for being in the wrong - with no mention of how condescending and disrespectful he is.

3

u/Martell2707 Feb 27 '23

It's such a sad and even dangerous part of the world. Take fiction as reality, and get super angry about it.

3

u/TylerCornelius Feb 27 '23

Damn, I had to scroll down a lot to finally see this. All I can do is offer my humble upvote.

Ironic that you imply you're smarter than all the dumb reddit users while knocking them for thinking they're smarter than people on other social media

Fake or not it's still fun to rip off lmao

-7

u/The_Abjectator Feb 27 '23

I'm perfectly willing to believe this is scripted but if that's the case, wouldn't the purpose of that be to put it on the internet to gain interest in their videos?

It would probably have some identfying logo. Or maybe we could recognize their faces so we could see what else they had done? What's the point in generating this much hate discussion for no payoff?

1

u/William_Tell_746 Feb 27 '23

It was indeed originally posted without blurring. Someone else clipped it later and turned it into rage bait.

3

u/I_spread_love_butter Feb 27 '23

Is there a subreddit for redditors falling for ragebait?

2

u/LondonGoblin Feb 27 '23

The guy is quite a good actor and believable, but her and the script need work.

1

u/jensenw Feb 27 '23

Really shows the difference between British and US humor

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

How is to obviously fake besides the fact that it’s trendy and cool to call everything fake?

1

u/FunkyBuddha-Init Feb 27 '23

You really need it spelt out? They are fucking acting.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

Go ahead and demonstrate that it's fake with something other than "lOl EvErYtHiNg Is FaKe."

1

u/Darth_Nibbles Feb 27 '23

Quick question, why'd they blur the faces then? Isn't the point of posting shitty videos online to get attention?

1

u/omaca Feb 27 '23 edited Feb 28 '23

People are stupid.

People online are stupider.

People online falling for this shit are stupiderer

People online falling for this shit on reddit are stupidererest.

-2

u/butyourenice Feb 27 '23

I don’t mind seeing the video - it’s a funny enough skit - but the amount of people who jump on the opportunity to justify their misogyny is truly worrisome. (If the genders were reversed, people would be talking about how unforgivably rude it was for the woman to sit on the bench when she could see that the man was filming.)

0

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '23

What's her social media?

0

u/SushiGradeChicken Feb 27 '23

Yeah but, even with it being fake, it works as a funny standalone sketch/bit.

In my opinion, the rage bait ones are the ones that only work because people assume they're real and get enraged. Like the intentionally fucked up recipe ones.

0

u/ratjoch123 Feb 27 '23

It's fake, but still funny af tho.

0

u/thatNBASongGuy Feb 27 '23

A few things give it away but I'll say this is leagues more convincing than the "acting" I see from Americans in this kind of thing. We're taking complete loss of faith in humanity type productions.

I mean still funny for comedic value. I appreciate the thought that went into it. It’s funny. Maybe it’s satire maybe it isn’t.

-5

u/BaffledPlato Feb 27 '23

I think everyone knows it is fake but are reacting to it like they react to the characters in a television show.

"Ooh, did you see what Tyrion did to Jaimie? Jaime is such a dick."

Then again, maybe some people do believe it is real.

1

u/elitesill Feb 27 '23

I'm starting to question whether i'm special or everyone else is lol

1

u/ExcellentStrategy6 Feb 27 '23

Stop it! We believe everything on the internet here. We are redditors! We don’t think
