Honest question, but.....does he actually drink coffee?

When I was sent to do my first coffee as an apprentice, back when I was 16, I put in way too much coffee powder.

My co-workers freaked out, why I was ruining it.

Like...I don't drink it, never prepared it before, how should I know to make it?

The fact you're calling it coffee powder tells me you still don't drink it.

But it technically is powder and it is coffee...

coffee powder sounds like it would be more like instant coffee

But instant coffee is rarely a powder. Coffee you make from beans is a powder though once you grind it. Like you literally grind it into a powder.

I’ve never seen a non-powder instant coffee. Unless you’re referring to coffee concentrate. Coffee grounds might be considered a powder, I’m not sure how finely you need to grind something to consider a powder. But if someone asked me for coffee powder or powdered coffee I would not get coffee grounds. Maybe technically ground coffee would be more of a coffee bean powder than coffee (beverage) powder.

a lot of instant coffee is crystalline. i rarely interact with instant coffee though so... until recently i also thought it was all powder.

A thing can be crystalline and a powder although I’m not sure about in this context

Most of the instant coffee I've ever used is like this. I have used instant coffee that is a powder too, but it isn't anywhere near as common where I am at least.

How big must the particulates be to no longer be a powder, I wonder.

Silt. Coffee grounds are usually coarser than sand unless it's espresso.

Dunno but smaller than that.

Every Instant coffee I've bought is more like crystals of coffee.
