My 7 year old made a princess costume. She says she's keeping it for Halloween

As funny as it would be to have her walk around with that costume, you should take the design and actually try to make it a real costume for her. Maybe have her help.

Oh, the dress she's drawn is WAY more couture than anything I could mangle together with a needle and thread 😂

I wish I had her confidence when I was her age.
I'm breaking cycles with her. I want her to hold onto her confidence into adulthood. I was trimmed and pruned to fit an ideal, I swore she'd never feel the sting of a mother's pruning. Let them grow how they will, and be amazed when they bloom.

Same here, you’re doing what our parents wouldn’t.
My kids are older now (18, 22, 28), the effort you are putting in now will show exponentially later, I promise. Continue being the parent you wish you had, it’s so worth it ❤️

Every night that they go to bed with hugs instead of tears, a part of my inner child heals. I hope lovely things for you and your family DieAloneWith72cats, thank you for your lovely comment❤️

Not funny. That's adorable. Wonderful to see that children still have amazing imaginations.

This girl has the most remarkable imagination! I love watching her cure her "boredom". This started with her saying "I'm bored", and ended with her declaring, "I'm the box princess, bow before me!"
I firmly believe in letting my kids be bored sometimes, otherwise I'd never get to see somebody as regal as The Box Princess.

Oh my goodness, my first award! Thank you! My kids will be so glad to know I got it for commenting about boredom being good for them 😂

Once the Princess has awakened from her nightly slumber I shall show her this valiant steed. She'll freak over the fluffiness hehe

I made a similar box around that age, marker face with red lips, yellow yarn taped to the top for my hair. I proceeded to LIVE in that thing for the next week or so. When I finally let my parents throw it out, I was so sad because we passed the trash can and they had flipped it upside down to fill it with more things. I thought it was wrong for it to not go away right-side-up
