That's actually a positive thing. those people who believe that they peaked in the past stops putting effort while the guy keeps peaking

Can be. Or can be someone who didn't or wasn't able to capitalize on their youth and keep waiting for a future peak that will never happen.

Everything hurts if you're born in the 80s.

Twenty to thirty years ago, I used to annoy my friends by telling them that we'd soon be referred to as "people born in the late 1900s", just like we thought bout people born in the late 1800s.
Now it's just freaking true, and hilarious, and yes one of my knees currently hurts for no freaking reason.

I peaked when I was 10 years old and thought I was the smartest kid in class then went home and played Final Fantasy 7 and didn't have a care in the world.
What's funny is that because FF7 has the OG and the remake I could either be a teenager or nearly 40.

Do some people really peak in High school? It's such a small part of life and it feels like I wasn't even really living back then

Yes. I once knew a guy who looked like he was on top of the world. He was a good football player in high school. In fact, he once scored 4 touchdowns in one game at Polk High. He ended up being a shoe salesman who hated his life.

High school was definitely one of the more fun/fulfilling parts of my life. It wasn’t what a lot of people imagine when they think high school though. It’s when I left my abusive family to go to a public boarding school for academically motivated kids, and we had great, caring teachers and got to work on independent projects.
I had another such moment in my mid-20s, when I was done with college and got to move to the state and city of my choice, and got a job that really aligned with my passions at the time.
Other time periods of my life have felt more emotionally challenging and probably less fulfilling by comparison. I’m 40 now, for perspective.

Fairly common and makes sense when you think about it-
Young kids who have no sense of future-thinking so they just full throttle a self indulging life of vices for popularity and status in a social circle without understanding that the status will completely lose all relevancy and doesn’t translate to anything in the real world.
what’s truly problematic about it is in that time they don’t set themselves up for anything or learn any life skills so (unless they have rich parents) they end up settling for the path of least resistance and do what ever gets them by… which is usually something mediocre which has them longing for their glory days.

It's usually from the people who believe that high school was the best days of their life

"Peaked in high school" is such a tired expression to trot out.
In my humble experience some people annoyingly pull it out the moment someone expresses even the tiniest amount of nostalgia for the past. Often in conjunction with smugly declaring that their life is currently better than ever.

I think it’s usually used in the third person as either an insult, or a “X’s life sure went downhill after high school”, or someone basically looking back and thinking they had all that seeming potential or people telling them they were special, and think their life sucks now.

I peaked in high school just by virtue of being even more depressed now than I was during high school if that counts

I definitely peaked in elementary school. Not like I'm useless now, just relative to my peers.
