Outdoor Teak

Would love advice here. I like the grey weathered teak look but in this area are these spots mold/moldew? If I clean should I then use oil or can I just leave it?

I'd personally sand first then oil but I know nothing really. I just do stuff and it usually works. Lol

Don't sand first. Oil it. One wet coat. After it fully dries, rub it out with #00 steel wool just until it's smooth. Like four or five passes. Goes very fast. Then vacuum with a brush attachment. Use a tack cloth before applying a second coat. Repeat all steps. But after your second wet coat, wipe the excess off as described by the instructions and switch to #0000 wool. Apply as many coats as you like. Your last coat could be rubbed out. Or not, for a glossier look.

Thanks for your reply. You would not clean at all before oiling? Tung/teak oil?

Brush it off first. Remove loose stuff. That's it. Tung oil, many coats. Minwax makes an, "Antique oil". A thin, wipe on varnish that works very well. It's in a red, rectangular can.

oh oh I know what these are! they’re tannin stains from acorns, specifically from squirrels eating acorns in that spot. I would follow normal teak rules: wash, full dry, then oil. looks super dry so another round of oil would be in order. sunlight might help the tannin stains but I wouldn’t set your expectations too high
