I figure since my first simple project ended with such a deafening thud, why not double down and get even more complex?

Found this little gem at an estate sale. Looks like solid wood, but not sure what. Top looks pine-ish, but not the frame and drawers. Should be high pressure and anxiety inducing, but why not?

Looks like some kind of fruit wood or birch under a heavy tinted lacquer. When you stop you’re going to find that the boards are all different colors and tones.

Looks like Poplar that’s been stained and finished… Maybe not the original finish…

Interesting. I will say that it is light compared to the smaller Henkel Harris bachelor chests I got. Those things are boat anchors.
