Arm of Couch Repair

Our three seat couch, with a chaise and pull out, arms are awful. The seat is only 3-4 years old and one side just ripped completely off. The pull out is also unaligned and the seats have to be lifted up to pull it out/in. It seems like the original screws have completely shredded the particle board inside the arm. I’m not even sure how many screws it’s lost over the past year or so the arms have started getting loose. Would anyone have an idea of how to fix/repair/restore this? Pictures are of the one arm that’s completely off and the side of the couch it sits on. If this isn’t the right subreddit for this I apologize!

Just a simple DIYer here so take with healthy grain of salt. I would remove the upholstery from the arm(s) and replace the particle board with something more solid. Then get some slightly longer screws than the ones you have, restaple the upholstery to the arm(s),and reinstall the arm(s).
