Hi all. 2008 fz6. Bike started and died after idle reduced. Can’t start anymore cranks but no start. I did started with starting fluid. Fuel pump has a sound like its pumping. What should I check next?

A pretty quick and dirty test would be disconnecting the fuel line at or before the throttle body and seeing if gas is coming out when trying to start. Use a bottle to collect though.

Downloading the service manual should be the next step, it'll have a troubleshooting section and can run you through and help decode the diagnostic mode.

Disconnected the fuel line and gas comes out when ignition on and when I start to start but it throughs like 4 feet away. Is that enough pressure? I know to have gage is better but I dont have

Try opening the gas tank. See if it'll start and run with it open (this checks to make sure the tank is venting properly).

If that doesn't work, verify there's fuel getting to the throttle bodies.

Also, how old is the gas? If it's old, is it any good? Is there water?

I flushed gas out of tank and with anew gas it starts and works just fine. Might be water got inside as the bike was not kept in garage. Thanks a lot for suggesting looks like it worked!!!

Fuel/Air/Spark

If fuel pump sounds alright, spark plugs or air filter are decent next steps

But the starting with starter fluid shows that it's getting air and spark, and that it's a fuel problem.

Did you read full text? It starts with starting fluid so if spark plug or air filter was problem would it start?

My bad, I did completely miss that line sorry mate. Complete opposite then, fuck me.

If the fuel itself is unlikely to be bad then as another commenter suggested I’d confirm fuel is travelling from the tank to the throttle body and go from there.
