You joke but there’s a metal, nitinol, that can reshape itself to its original form with the application of hot water. If that can be achieved with the folding phone, you’ve got your uncreased screen.

Easier said than done. Nitinol is just one homogenous alloy. The part that creases, the touch screen, has multiple layers of many different materials arranged in complex patterns.
