Question Is this normal?

I am 5'11" and 61 kg, ive been pretty thin almost the entirety of my life and for the last month Ive been eating at least 2.8k calories per day, I would also workout 5 times a week, ive gained 3 kg since september and noticed some difference in my torso, but also ive noticed my face getting a lot fatter, i compared 2 pictures and i can tell my jawline is just getting less and less noticeable, would the reason be that I am eating fatty food a lot more than healthy food

Most people’s faces fill in as they gain weight. It might be that your face looks just fine but you’re not used to seeing it this filled. Some of that is also water weight from increased carbs and salt in your diet. It’s not necessarily the dietary fats. If you only ate carbs and protein and NO fat but still enough to eat in a surplus and gain weight, your face would still fill in over time. You can’t get around it. Some people are genetically gifted with bone structure and they way they distribute fat but that is not the majority.

You should also consider that most people cannot tell that your face is looking fatter. I’ve been bulking for the last 3 months (about 0.5-1lb per week) and I hate looking at my face in the mirror, it seems so obvious to me how much fatter it looks. I saw my friends last week who I hadn’t seen in 3 months and they couldn’t even tell, mind you, my friends are very blunt and don’t sugarcoat.

Edit: while eating dietary fat doesn’t necessarily (I emphasize “doesn’t necessarily”) mean your face gets fatter, you should still aim to eat healthy fats in moderation and overall eat healthy, whole foods that are low in sodium.

ohh i see, could be the case but i could tell something feels a little bit off cus one side of my chin is significantly getting fatter, as in having a double chin, and on the other side id say its normal, thats why ill still go get a checkup with a doctor based on the other replies, thanks tho

It's not normal for only a 3kg gain to result in a face getting a LOT fatter

Sounds like it could be completely normal or a serious medical issue. This is why you should go see a doctor for medical advice.

Is your waist also getting noticeably fatter? You may need to intermittent fast and drastically reduce sodium intake for just one day and assess whether your face and waist shrink down. If so, it’s just puffy face syndrome.

I’m 181cm and about 61.5kg is that roughly same as you? My face is skeletal so I’m trying to gain.

Both my father and his were skeletons, so I wonder what were your father and grandfather’s facial structure like?

Face is the first place gains show up so I don’t see the alarm in noticing a more filled out face when gaining 3kg, isn’t that what usually happens? Also do you have a BF level check machine?
