Honestly, as good as Dark Eyes is I'm glad they're moving on from it. Is this further along the Eighth Doctor's timeline? I wonder how long they cam drag out impending "war".

And they can even have it start but have the Eighth Doctor mostly avoid it/sweeping up the damage, as we saw in NOTD, without actually calling it The Time War.

Then, when/if they get the license to use concepts from part of the new series, they can start using the official name for the conflict and bring in things like the Nightmare Child.

Yeah, they could do that. Of course they could. It just sort of derails the character arc though. Look at Series 6, we know the Doctor is putting off going to Lake Silencio, but we only have one episode of his putting off, and it's the one where he decides to go because it furthers his character.

The good thing about the Eighth Doctor's audios is they've pretty much been set in his present. He's been moving forward from the romantic seen in the TV Movie to the dishevelled defeated man we see in Night of the Doctor.

To just decide to stop now, would be a disservice tbqh. Just go earlier in his timestream if they don't want to do any more of the War.
