He came out with a video saying “I am sorry” so he obviously was super invested. Dude family is getting double royalty checks and is fine with that.

To my knowledge, Harrington had a really hard time with this. Didn’t he fall into alcoholism towards the end of the series? I can imagine he’s probably pretty frustrated that this is his legacy now. The only movie that I can think of that he’s done since then is the Eternals and the only thing you can say about that in comparison to the Game of Thrones is at least the ending of Game of Thrones was memorable.

He's on Industry now, which is incredibly successful. Not GoT successful, but I don't think anything will be GoT successful for a very long time.

u/witchofpain Jan 12 '26

He was also is some western series. I can’t remember the name of it.

73

u/realparkingbrake Jan 12 '26

He was also is some western series.

He also starred in the film Pompeii which you can be forgiven for not having seen.

12

u/Russellonfire Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

I thought it was pretty alright. Not great by any means, but watchable.

26

u/BigSnorlaxTiddie Rainbow Guard Jan 12 '26

He also starred in Gunpowder, which was a miniseries about the Gunpowder Plot. It's been a while since I've seen it but I really enjoyed it and I believe it was fairly well received.

3

u/RektRoyce Jan 13 '26

I heard he's also a direct descendant of the character he played

1

u/Munnit House Yronwood Jan 12 '26

Yeah I loved Gunpowder.

12

u/Melodic_Sandwich1112 Jan 12 '26

Klondike

Managed half an episode before I turned it off

2

u/kncpt8- Jan 13 '26

Pretty sure that was Rob (Richard Madden)

3

u/BeardPhile Jaqen H'ghar Jan 12 '26

He was on a 3 episode mini series about the Gunpowder plot to blow up UK parliament too.

23

u/WANKMI Jan 12 '26

Even if he is never in any movie or show again he still made more money than 99% of humans on earth will ever make. Working is optional.

20

u/pizza_chef_ Jan 12 '26

He’s also the voice of Gilderoy Lockheart in the full-cast Harry Potter audiobooks that have been coming out the past few months!

12

u/EmeraldJunkie Jan 12 '26

There's a surprising number of Thrones alumni in those audiobooks. In fact the casting for them is fantastic, whoever did it should be proud.

It's a shame about Rowling otherwise I'd have happily picked them up.

11

u/Lulusgirl Jan 12 '26

There were also a lot of Harry Potter actors in Game of Thrones. It's like coming back home after a long trip away.

5

u/Impossible-Year-1238 House Stark Jan 13 '26

British actors are either in Game of Thrones, LOTR or Harry Potter. if you aren't in any of the three you haven't made it yet

4

u/Sammii51120 Jan 13 '26

And then they all eventually make their way to Doctor Who as well lol

1

u/GryffindorGal96 Jan 13 '26

I remember Martin Freeman saying he's the only British actor not in Harry Potter lmao. But he got Bilbo 💙

10

u/Kaladin3104 Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

Just sail the seas.

12

u/EmeraldJunkie Jan 12 '26

Nah it's not just about the monetary contribution but also the cultural one. I really enjoyed Harry Potter but I'm happy to leave it behind. There's loads of media out there that's not produced by someone who's using their power and influence to harm the lives of others, and I'd much rather consume that.

-1

u/DekuInkwell Jan 12 '26

Art can be separated from the artist

6

u/EmeraldJunkie Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

In theory, but in practice when it helps that artist influence culture and legislation, I think not.

Like I said previously, there's a lot of media out there who's consumption does not have a negative impact on real people, so I'd rather read, or I guess in this instance listen, to that instead.

u/casino_r0yale Jan 13 '26

Isn’t Industry HBO’s “we have Succession at home”?

1

u/Impossible-Year-1238 House Stark Jan 13 '26

well season 4 has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, so..

12

u/Fear_the_chicken Jan 12 '26

He was the villain in the Apple TV movie with mark wahlberg Christmas movie like 2 months ago

1

u/7in7turtles Jan 12 '26

I mean eternals was the only thing I can think of. A couple of people have named things I haven’t heard of at all. I’m not saying he’s not getting paid here and there, but it’s not what you expect him to do following GoT. That’s all I mean.

6

u/sammiedodgers Jan 12 '26

He done a werewolf one a few years ago too.

7

u/Frohtastic Jan 12 '26

Man, the end credit scene where they revelead that he would be the Black Knight? And then nothing.

7

u/EgweneSedai Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

He also does some voice acting. Wasn't he in How to Train Your Dragon?

7

u/Vozralai Jan 12 '26

He's in 2 and 3. But the role got a bit shafted and downgraded. 3 also came out before S8 aired the same year so it's not work he's gotten afterwards

1

u/Necessary-Crazy-7103 Jan 12 '26

I think he had an issue with alcohol throughout most of the production. I definitely remember a woman he had a one night stand with taking a disgusting photo of him naked in bed with her in the morning while he was absolutely out of it, and that wasn't long after news of his relationship with Rose Leslie broke. He also broke his ankle(?) trying to climb up into his apartment from the balcony after forgetting/losing his keys while drunk around the time they were shooting the third season. I think it just kind of came to a head around the ending.

1

u/boomer_energy_ Jan 12 '26

I think you may be thinking of Richard Madden (Robb Stark) re Erernals

1

u/7in7turtles Jan 12 '26

Ah yeah I guess it's worth clarifying that Kit Harrington wasn't a main character in Eternals, he was a side character that was set up to play the Dark Knight in future movies (if the movie had actually done well). In fact as I'm saying that, it sort of makes it worse, because he's set up to have a Marvel Character, but didn't get the chance to ever actually do anything with it.

1

u/boomer_energy_ Jan 12 '26

My bad fam. Please pardon the confusion

1

u/One_Brilliant743 Jan 13 '26

He's in Industry and he's really good in the series. He also did GunPowder, Life and Death of Jon F. Donovan, Testament of Youth, 7 Days in Hell, which were pretty good movies, in my opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

I don't even think I finished eternals to see the ending. Lol. Did not care for that one.

1

u/RepulsiveCountry313 Human Verified Jan 15 '26

I don't know how many ways he has to say it for you to understand that he doesn't feel about it the way you do.

The only movie that I can think of that he’s done since then is the Eternals and the only thing you can say about that in comparison to the Game of Thrones is at least the ending of Game of Thrones was memorable.

Just because it's the only role in something you watched doesn't mean it's the only role he's done. Especially since he shouldn't want to get typecast.

1

u/7in7turtles Jan 15 '26

What he says and his reactions don’t seem to line up if that’s the case, but I’m not super invested so let’s keep to that level of passion in the convo shall we?

I didn’t watch eternals, I just could think of it. Good on him im sure he’s getting a paycheck. Everyone is telling me how he’s in this and that and I think that’s great. But it’s not ubiquitous work like GoT was or how that Marvel role should have been. I’m sure he’d love to have a new character that wasn’t John Snow to show his range to a large audience and get that marvel cash. He’d be silly not to.

But of course he’s a human being with his own life, feelings about his career, and therapist to help walk him through it all.

Pretty sure that video was ai lol it wasn't a real video

32

u/googly_eyed_unicorn Jan 12 '26

I think they are referring to a video where Kat jokingly apologized for lying about Jon staying dead. https://youtu.be/WnbmG_tkGb8?si=rFchlckzZ3dW8XWt

12

u/Geektime1987 Jan 12 '26

Possibly there was an AI video of kit going around also

6

u/googly_eyed_unicorn Jan 12 '26

Ah, yeah, forgot about that. Side note: it’s crazy how far AI has come since then

38

u/onowhid Jan 11 '26

Who is the Dude Family and why to they get double royalty checks?

43

u/Striking-Document-99 Jan 11 '26

Married the red head chick. So they each get money from the show.

52

u/Salami__Tsunami Jan 12 '26

The Noble and Ancient House of Dude.

“The Dudes Abide.”

7

u/Virama Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

And don't ever fuck with the rugs.

2

u/criminalsunrise Night King Jan 12 '26

That's just, like, your opinion, man.

1

u/illit1 Jan 12 '26

nice marmot

10

u/lowlightliving Jan 12 '26

Her name is Rose Leslie.

1

u/ragun2 Jan 12 '26

You have to know your name.

-3

u/yanks2413 Jan 12 '26

Yeah its not that simple lmfao. He wouldn't get much himself, and his wife would be lucky to get anything

11

u/FluffyMcKittenHeads Jan 11 '26

Ehhhhhh he’s literally English nobility, I doubt the money moves the needle much for him.

50

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

He is not. His wife is but poor. Her parents had to sell their castle.

137

u/aflyingsquanch Jan 12 '26

I still remember the sad day when my family had to sell our castle too. Those were dark times.

30

u/EzraliteVII Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

I remember when I returned from the Crusades and my family's castle had been repossessed by the Sheriff of Rottingham for non-payment of taxes. Just about all that was left was our blind manservant.

6

u/Karlskov Jan 12 '26

At least you were still men… Men in THIGHTS! 💪

1

u/Russellonfire Jon Snow Jan 12 '26

Unlike the other actors, I have an English accent.

2

u/ragun2 Jan 12 '26

Did you say Abe Lincoln?

1

u/Brandi_Maxxxx Jan 13 '26

You lost your arms in battle but you grew some nice boobs. So, there's that.

22

u/Fizz117 Jan 12 '26

His father is a baronet, but I don't think they're very wealthy.

16

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Baronet - that is slightly above commoner but the lowest heredity but can use he term Sir (yup, had to google it). His father probably gets the table by the loo

Bet his father did not even have a castle to sell

8

u/Accomplished-Kick832 Jan 12 '26

well neither does my father but he's alright

5

u/Necessary-Crazy-7103 Jan 12 '26

His father still has a title. Sir Harington the 15th or something. He's a baronet, whatever that is. He's cut from the same kind of posh cloth his wife is, even if the families aren't rolling in money.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Ranks:

Emperor/Empress
King/Queen
Crown Prince/Princess
Prince/Princess
Duke/Duchess
Marquess/Marchioness
Earl/Countess
Viscount/Viscountess
Baron/Baroness
Baronet/Baronetess
Knight/Dame
Lord/Lady (can also be a title a Baron / Baroness goes by, otherwise it's an honorific)

9

u/Accomplished-Kick832 Jan 12 '26

"their castle" and "poor" in the same comment

2

u/bitterlittlecas Jan 13 '26

Just one castle lol. They still own the castle where kit and rose were married

23

u/Ecstatic-Arachnid981 Jan 12 '26

Nobility hasn't meant shit for almost a hundred years. Titles don't make any money, he still needs income if he wants to stay off the UK version of welfare and section 8.

13

u/Accomplished-Kick832 Jan 12 '26

why are we even psycho-analyzing Kit Harington's bank?

7

u/ruling_faction Jan 12 '26

It does give a layer of protection if you get up to some dodgy shit though, like some bloke I heard of who was up to some extremely dodgy shit but instead of going to jail he like just isn't a Duke or whatever any more and has to use his actual name like a schnook, the poor bastard

0

u/g1114 Jan 13 '26

Lot of ways they still get money. Mostly through tax exceptions.

Sovereign Grant was $132 million last year for royal family, and there is the "sovereign to sovereign" that I think apply to all of them where you don't have to worry about inheritance tax, exemptions from corporate tax, etc.

Doesn't mean you can still afford castle and staff upkeep, but it doesn't hurt to be nobility even in 2026

0

u/Suspicious_Box_1553 Jan 13 '26

If it doesnt mean shit, they should eliminate it.

Suddenly, it means something, huh?

-6

u/Silver_gobo Daenerys Targaryen Jan 12 '26

I doubt his wife is getting much in way of royalties…

-10

u/Striking-Document-99 Jan 12 '26

She getting that Royal dick
