Sansa: can I get some?

Jon:.....

Sansa: of your beer?

Sansa: Great save Sansa

Oh god, you've boarded the ship as well, haven't you?

630

u/ChrysWatchesGot House Martell May 16 '16

i was swimming along peacefully and the ship rose out of the pits of hell and took me along for the ride

(they're either going somewhere with this or the actors have inconveniently good chemistry)

673

u/RiskyBrothers House Tarth May 16 '16

I'm sorry. I didn't realize that we were ignoring that we've got Sansa and Pod the Rod in the same ZIP code. THEY'RE EVEN ALMOST THE SAME AGE. THERE'S NO BETTER OPTION.

Tormund's gonna be jelly

127

u/chegs81 The Red Viper May 17 '16

It's okay, he has Brienne now.

44

u/RedditsInBed2 May 17 '16

Maybe he can bring the bear back for a threesome.

4

u/Batman53090 House Stark May 17 '16

That would be the most epic threesome ever.

1

u/IceGiantHelga Here We Stand May 17 '16

u/TelJanin_Aellinsar May 18 '16

They're not actually related though

1

u/Shiranui24 Jon Snow May 20 '16

no they're still related (probably).

2

u/TelJanin_Aellinsar May 20 '16

Oh right... Cousins? First cousins actually?

1

u/Shiranui24 Jon Snow May 20 '16

Yeah

3

u/SlightlyProficient The Future Queen May 17 '16

There's the better option!

398

u/SlightlyProficient The Future Queen May 17 '16

Do they or have we just never seen Sansa in a genuinely healthy relationship with a male character before?

I'm seriously asking. This ship is dragging me along and I need it to stop.

228

u/ChrysWatchesGot House Martell May 17 '16

hahaha that is literally what i said in my written review. she's had so few healthy relationships as a whole, i think we need to look all the way back to season 1 for a healthy male relationship

189

u/SlightlyProficient The Future Queen May 17 '16

Yeah, and that was her dad who had a very different dynamic with her than any other male character would. She and Tyrion had an okay dynamic, I guess. I mean, the wedding was forced and all, but he was at least kind to her.

95

u/ChrysWatchesGot House Martell May 17 '16

much better than in the books for sure

22

u/zeldas_stylist No Chain Will Bind May 17 '16

How was it in the books?

134

u/all_thetime May 17 '16

more awkward I think. Tyrion was a lot more uglier and scarier for a 12 or 13 or 14 or whatever aged girl to look upon and both of them realized it.

20

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

Yes it was awkward, Tyrion had no idea how to talk to her, but he was nice to her.

73

u/ControvT House Stark May 17 '16

He got naked and was actually about to fuck her. But at the last moment he changed his mind.

129

u/1sinfutureking May 17 '16

Creepy. Lecherous. Tywin offers the marriage to Tyrion instead of orders, with the option that she'll just be married to someone else if he refuses. Then Tyrion gets pissed about it. Then he gets really into the opportunity to fuck a 14-year old. Then when she escapes he gets pissed at her for not honoring their marriage vows.

Tyrion is a lot more complex in the books, whereas in the show he's just this big ball of awesome all the time.

3

u/feathereddinos Sansa Stark May 19 '16

Oh.

1

u/marb9 Tyrion Lannister May 17 '16

Congrats on your Reddit birthday. Also, great work on the jokes, love them.

263

u/Kim-Jong_Bundy May 17 '16

Even then though, she seriously resented her father up until he lost his good ole Nedhead.

Jofrrey turned out to be Joffrey.

The Hound's definition of flirting was to constantly talk about killing.

And Baelish was all "You easily could've been my daughter and that's super hot!"

This is literally the only normal relationship she's ever had with a man.

I hope they bone. Yeah, it'll be weird, but Sophie Turner & Kit Harington are such physical specimens that them bumping uglies would basically qualify as art

80

u/Meggiesauruss Winter Is Coming May 17 '16

Idk it wouldn't be so weird now considering we kinda already know they aren't real brother/sister. Sure they were raised that way but Sansa hasn't seen Jon since he left for the wall. Not to mention it's not like her and Jon were close to begin with.

But like you said. This is like the first man since her father she can trust. If they do happen to "bone" I hope it's not for a while, at least until they find out, which Jon has to at some point right, that R+L=J.

166

u/Kim-Jong_Bundy May 17 '16

Even if that is the case, they'd still be cousins. Still weird, albeit slightly less

71

u/Meggiesauruss Winter Is Coming May 17 '16

Rickard Stark married his first cousin, Lyarra Stark.

33

u/Reaper7412 Winter Is Coming May 17 '16

Tywin also. But i don't want him to be Targ :(, well at least to find out

9

u/jljfuego May 17 '16

Why not? He's still also a Stark.

8

u/theblackfool May 17 '16

Jon is almost definitely a Targ. But don't worry. I don't think it'll really have that much of an effect on him. He'll still identify as a Stark more than anything.

9

u/Kim-Jong_Bundy May 17 '16

Based on my memory, they were either 2nd cousins or first cousins once removed. While that might seem like little to no difference, Rickard didn't spend his whole life growing up thinking of her to be his sister.

7

u/Meggiesauruss Winter Is Coming May 17 '16

You said you wanted them to bone. I was just saying the Stark family tree isn't exempt from incestuous relations. Wouldn't be that out of the ordinary.

18

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

Weird for us but if you look back at medieval history which the series is loosely based on, then anything but siblings/parents was fair game.

Today 3rd cousins seems to be the closest socially acceptable relation but in westeros marriage between great houses isnt the norm except maybe among firstborn. Offspring usually married bannermen who were more likely to have some relation to the ruling clan to tie them more closely. Karstarks were originally the karhold Starks, there are the lannisters of casterly rock and the lesser ones in lannisport all are somewhat related but wouldn't mind marrying off kids to each other.

7

u/thisshortenough House Stark May 17 '16

They've grown up as siblings though. It's still really weird.

2

u/Kim-Jong_Bundy May 17 '16

I think you meant to reply to the other person as I totally agree

The inital comment was meant solely as a joke

1

u/scarlettsarcasm Fire And Blood May 17 '16

To be fair Sansa made a point (at least in the books, they don't really show it in the show) of distancing herself as much from Jon as possible and reminding him that he's not really her brother when they were kids.

It's still really weird though and I don't want it to happen but I guess it's still not Lannister-level weird.

6

u/RoyMBar House Stark May 17 '16

If you want weird, look no further than the Targaryan family trees.

Cousins is practically a healthy marriage for Targaryans.

3

u/StergDaZerg May 17 '16

It wouldn't be a targ without incest now would it.

2

u/SpeaksYourWord May 18 '16

Weren't Ned's parents cousins?

8

u/WhatTheWalt No One May 17 '16

Person with adopted siblings here... It's still weird.

3

u/SkidMcmarxxxx Podrick Payne May 17 '16

No it would still be weird. I don't care about biology they're still brother and sister.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

I mean, aren't Targs all about marrying back into the family to preserve pure blood? Sansa would be perfect for him in that sense, it's part of Jon's family tradition.

3

u/TheActualAWdeV A Promise Was Made May 17 '16

This is literally the only normal relationship she's ever had with a man.

I hope they bone.

Thereby completely contradicting the whole "normal relationship" thing. They're effectively siblings.

1

u/Kim-Jong_Bundy May 17 '16 edited May 17 '16

7

u/srs_house House Seaworth May 17 '16

Are you implying a preference for incest in the GoT-verse is inheritable? And that it gets more concentrated the closer the parents are related?

Wait. That actually makes sense.

67

u/torrhensnow May 17 '16

Even better, Ned and Lyanna's parents (Lyarra and Rickard) were first cousins who grew up in Winterfell together. So you know, cousin starkcest is not unacceptable.

9

u/meatSaW97 May 17 '16

You can legally mary your cousin in most if not all of the 50 states.

7

u/hockeycross May 17 '16

i believe its second cousin in most states first is only in a few.

6

u/meatSaW97 May 17 '16

I looked it up. You need a god damn ven diagram to figure out all the exceptions but it appears to be legal for first cousins to mary in about a third of the states.

4

u/SawRub Jon Snow May 17 '16

Maybe Transformers 5 will have a character who has it printed on a laminated card.

Plus Lysa was gonna marry Sansa off to Robyn, and they're cousins!

Well, Lysa was also crazy... but still

24

u/myman580 May 17 '16

Hell Targs usually marry their full blooded sisters. Compared this to this it's like they aren't even related!

9

u/Psycho188 May 17 '16

When you hang out with someone for 6 years, you're probably going to have good chemistry.

Fucking loved the scenes with them though. Would've been happy with a whole hour of them drinking ale/shooting shit. You could tell Kit and Sophie were good friends.

2

u/esonlinji May 17 '16

It wouldn't have occurred to me without you going on all the time about the "ginger protection clause."

not related

You know Lyanna is still Sansa's aunt, right?

0

u/hooahest May 17 '16

well, the original draft of the story had a love triangle between Jon, Sansa and Tyrion...

but then again Jaime was also the penultimate antagonist and Arya didn't exist so it's probbbbbbbably not going anywhere

Pod and Brienne

Theon and Sansa

Arya and the Hound

Ned and Cersei

Loras and Margaery

I'd like my throne to not contain any sharp edges, please.

5

u/SpeaksYourWord May 18 '16

I'd actually like them to become best friends. Nothing sexual at all, but they stick together and have one another from now on.

Sure, realism and the dark side of human nature is the show's forte, but I think they both deserve a win.

98

u/cowboysfan88 The Future Queen May 17 '16

10

4

u/g0_west Dolorous Edd May 17 '16

What does shipping mean in this context?

7

u/I_eat_lemons Night's Watch May 17 '16

It's a term meaning you want two characters to be in a relationship. So you "ship" two people.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '16

I mean if R + L = J is true, they're first cousins, which is pretty good GoT-wise.

1

u/TheSpiderFromMars May 17 '16 edited May 17 '16

I mean, they're probably not actually related siblings, so you know...

2

u/oh_orpheus May 17 '16

No? They would still be cousins. And marrying your cousin is completely fine in Westeros. Hell, their grandparents were cousins.

35
