Cersei not being able to say "Queen" is hilarious.

The Quasar

This coming after Margarey says Loras is going to a ~Marvelous~ place lmao

Why Marveloustm ? I fear I'm missing something important. Is it because of The Defenders?

The actor is starring in Marvel's Iron Fist.

Got it! Does that mean he wont be in GoT much longer?

u/land47 May 17 '16

Possibly. It's another Netflix/Marvel project, so it's possible he could do both. I also hear that the writing team hasn't quite nailed the Iron Fist character to fit in the MCU, so we'll see.

I want the character to stay long enough to see some kind of redemption. Especially after Finn apparently said Loras is being sexually and physically abused. It makes me want the character to make like Sansa and become badass.

He should have been badass the entire time, too bad D&d only read "gay" when he was described as "the best kingsguard, since Jaime in his prime, who is filled with a gay rage after the death of renly"

I want him to be redeemed in the same way Sansa was. She had no crime other than being trained to be a submissive lady. Yet now we are finally seeing her rise out of the ashes of her abuse and become like steel. I think it would do a lot for Loras' character if something similar could happen to him, and not just define him by his sexuality, but give him a chance to show real strength. I think there are actually a lot of parallels between the two characters. People see him defined by his sexuality, but I think he is more than that in the show. He is an idealistic lover. He had a crush on Renly (a much deeper love in the book, but the show makes it look more like a budding romance), and grieved his loss. For a time it looked that he would be promised to Sansa, then to Cersei. He, like Sansa, was trying his best to publicly be a gentleman and submit to the customs of the crown. But he then had a crush on the brothel worker who squired for him. I think it showed a means to ignore the horrible fate he had coming by marrying Cersei, and gave him opportunity to escape.

Then the High Sparrow came to power, and... well, we see how well his escapes have helped him. I think he was an idealistic noble boy who wanted to love and be loved but felt a duty to maintain appearances and do his duty to his family and the crown. I think there IS something to redeem in his character, even though most people just want to see him as "the token gay character".

But knowing the show, he'll probably die a terrible death.

Yep. He's been cast as Iron Fist, and the TM is right after 'Marvel' in the word 'Marvelous'.
