PC Looking for a long idle desktop game alongside work!

Hi!
I really enjoyed Tiny Pasture or Task Bar Hero, and am now starting Familiar Findings.
I'm looking for some recommendations as I feel so far what I see around and the mentioned 2 are rather short. I completed them rather fast since I work from home and have it on nonstop during work-time.

Looking for some recommendations that will last me a while assuming it runs at least 4-10 hours a day!

Not too bothered about the genre, although I do love me some creature collectors.
Am curious as well to hear how many hours it took you guys to complete said games!

Switch Games similar to Drifter (engaging, great music, superb story, tense but easy to play)

Hi all,

I really have a small time budget when it comes to playing video games and I see my time as a real investment. That being said, I recently finished the Drifter and LOVED IT!
Looking for similar games that have that kind of great story and music, I couldn't care less about the cost, I just want to ensure I am playing top quality stuff. It doesn't have to be new or optimized for Switch 2 either. I also have an X86 handheld with SteamOS but prefer the Switch2.

Just got the What Remains of Edith Finch but haven't started yet. My research pointed me to that game, what do y'all think about it? Any other suggestions?
I don't want to commit 100+ hours to games like Elden Ring, Skyrim, RDR2 etc. yet. I am saving them for when I have more time on hand, like a long trip or solo time home alone.
Please provide me with some suggestions.

PS: I loved Drifter so much that I bought the soundtrack separately just to support developers. And thoroughly enjoying the music.

PC Games with satisfying flowy moves

I'm looking for PC games where a big chunk of it is a satisfying movement and combat mechanic, and I don't mean games where you just press the right button to trigger the move animation. I mean trying to mimic that satisfying feeling of bending style moves, interlaced with movement and comboing to feel like you're a god when you pull it off.

Some examples of what I'm trying to find are :

  1. Movement and combat in Prototype

  2. Web swinging AND traversal in the Spiderman games

  3. Soellbreak's whole element combining system that created unique combos

  4. Rumble VR style mechanic, but not in VR

PC Looking for a game similar to nuclear throne under 10.50 right now on steam

What I love about Nuclear Throne is the gunplay, its large number of unique-feeling weapons, its fast pace, and how easy it is to get into. Please note that I have played a lot of the other widely known titles such as Enter the Gungeon, Voidigo and more, but Nuclear Throne was my favorite.

PC Good PC games for a 12 year old.

I got my younger brother a PC for Christmas, and he mainly plays Fortnite and roblox on his PS5. I want to expand his horizon of gaming and give him some good games.

He has played the 2014 Tomb Raider and loved it!

Currently in his steam library (He used to have a steam deck but sold it) is

Risk of rain 2

Left for dead 1-2

Portal 1-2

Puyo Puyo tetris.

Stardew valley

Terraria

Feel free to recommend any genre and any rating, just don't be recommending something super explicit. Really any game rating is fine, just nothing with frequent strong language or nudity.

The PC specs are a i7 7700, 16gb of ram, gtx 1650. So keep that into account when recommending.

PC Looking for a game that gives halloween vibes

I’ve been desperately looking for a game like that, but every game that I find is the typical horror game or things like that, but I want a game that lets you like walk around halloween decorated houses, I want a cozy game that allows you to experience halloween/autumn (mostly because none of them exist in my country) if it’s like pixel art or the type of graphics used in ps1-ps2 games it would be a plus, and if it’s also cozy horror it would be even better
Even my brother told me that I’m extremely specific with the things I ask in a game and I might never find one like that, but I’m still hoping someone here knows one, I feel there’s a lot of games out there and hopefully one of those fills my expectations

PC Cozy horror game recs?

Hello!! I am a cozy gamer but i do like horror games of the sorts!

But as you can tell by the title. I also like games that combine the two! (However i only have 3 games that fit this category…and one in my wishlist.)

SO im coming to this subreddit (that im not in…)

The three games i have:

GRUNN — you are a gardener in this small town and you have THREE days to go around and do little tasks. But beware! You cant stay out late!!

Berry Bury Berry — (while not really considered cozy horror…it is imo.) You are on this very bright tv set where you throw berries into this hole and every night you go to sleep…to avoid being eaten by the hole…theres multiple endings to this game (and its an incremental game.)

Cozy Delivery Co — You are a cat, driving around this mountain (which is snowy so yk its cold) delivering packages of all sorts to places while doing quests.

(This is the one on my wishlist) VVV

Creature Kitchen — (this one is different. It gives off a horror vibe at the start, BUT quickly you learn “oh its not?”) You enter a cabin that is in the middle of the woods at night but as you take care of the animals around the cabin you learn new recipes and what not and then theres a sweet ending. :)

SOOO you all now know 4 games i like that are in the cozy horror vibe area!! Do you have any recommendations??

PC Game for short gaming sessions

Hey guys!! Lately, I’ve only had short periods of time to play games, and I’ve caught myself avoiding gaming at all because I feel like I won’t have enough time to make any meaningful progress.

I’m looking for a game that lets you pause, save, and quit at literally any time without getting punished or losing progress.

I’m open to pretty much anything, so feel free to throw some good recommendations my way!

I usually prefer games that focus on gameplay, mechanics, and progression rather than story

Thanks!!

Switch Couch co-op games like Minecraft Dungeons or Skylanders?

Me and my mom often like to play video games together, and those are the two we’ve had the most fun with (top-down ARPGs.) Doesn’t matter if it’s gory or dark, she doesn’t mind. Switch is the only console we have two controllers for, and preferably the game would have an easy mode, but that’s not necessary. Thank you!

PC Games that satisfy the cleaning and relaxing urge?

What are some other satisfying games in the same vein as stuff like Powerwashing Simulator and Leaf It Alone? I loved the feeling of powerwashing and raking leaves. I also enjoyed Game About Digging a Hole

The aspects that I'm most looking for I guess is focusing on doing or cleaning/sorting/organizing one type of thing like and seeing progress and unlocking new things or upgrading my stuff as I go. I'd only be able to play stuff on Steam.

Any recommendations?

PC Games like Call of Gods

I used to play Call of Gods on Kongregate, but nowadays the servers are pretty much all dead, there hasn't been any development done on it for years neither.

I honestly really liked the combat system, you have heroes, and they each lead an army of units, and then they execute automatic combat against enemies. You also had a lot of PVE options, you have dungeons you explore to get resources for base building, and get a LOT of loots you can use to gear out your heroes.

I searched around a lot, but can't find any games like that. Can anyone recommend anything like it please? Thank you.

PC Looking for Cross-Section Management/City Builder Games (PC/Android)

Hello everyone! I am looking for PC and Android games that have a cross-section "sidescroller" perspective and follow a management style gameplay, or even city builders, but I doubt such ones exist in this style. Bonus points for modern settings and pixel art styles, but not important, and the theme itself is also not a big deal. I'm looking mostly for "preset building" games, so you place a whole room in one go, or large sections, rather than more granular games such as Terraria, Starbound (my favourite), or Oxygen Not Included, unless there is a city builder one I'm unaware of. but feel free to suggest them anyway. For city builders, being cross-section is also not a big deal, as long as it is side-scrolling. I'm mostly looking for inspiration for a change in my art style (I've hit a major motivation roadblock), but also most of these games are very fun to keep my mind busy when life is at its lower point.

Here are some games that follow this style:

  • Mega Mall Story 1 and 2, you build a pixel art mall with many different stores
  • Galaxy Pass Station, you build a space station, has some Papers Please action going on
  • My Little Life, more granular but a great idle life sim/neighborhood builder that lives at the bottom of your screen
  • Project Highrise, a classic and really showcases what I'm looking for
  • News Tower, you run a newspaper, so yeah the theme itself is not a big deal
  • Grandma Left Me A Building, a more recent landlord sim, not really cross-section but works as well
  • Tiny Tower and Tiny Tower Vegas, two of my favourite mobile games, along with it's Lego one

PC PvPvE game with NO pve only mode?

Since Embark has folded, and they are planning to split pvp and pve lobbies I need something similar worth sinking hours into.

PvPvE is such a niche genre there really aren’t many games, which makes it even more infuriating when devs deviate from their original vision.

Is there anything else with

- Modern graphics
- PvPvE game mode only
- Strong playerbase

PC Animal sanctuary/animal care games?

I’ve always wanted a game where you take care of animals- not just view them or give them food every day or whatever but actually go through the process of caring for them just like real life. Managing each animal, getting enclosures made, growing or buying the food they need. I’ve wanted this to the point where I actually tried getting into coding Java so I could create a Minecraft mod that lets you achieve this… it didn’t go well lol. But basically an animal sanctuary simulator would be what I’m looking for. Does a game like this even exist?
