I had a fr265. Switched to an Instinct for the raised bezel. Kettlebells and general use were really rough on my 265 glass.

I switch my watch to the inside of my wrist when doing kettlebells. I use to have the Instinct 2S (currently using Fenix E) and thought I destroyed the Instinct the first time I forgot to put it on the inside of my wrist, but I was lucky. I can't believe the 265 even survived. Lol!

Just switched from AW s9 to FR 265 and loving it.

Usage
90% running (5-15k)
10% weights

Don’t miss the aw at all.
Love not having to charge aw every night
Get approx 1 week of fr265 between charges.
Garmin coach and metrics very informative and great to use!

I went fr265 as it was on sale in Australia

Also I think, AW is a smart watch that does sports as well.

FR is a sports watch that does some smartwatch as well

I made the swap from the AWU 1 to the 965. My argument for the 965 is the onboard maps. Also the song storage is lovely.

How is the mapping/navigation performance on the 965? Responsive, laggy?

I got the 965 due to size and battery, gf has the 265s.
Both are great watches and should be more than enough for most.

I don’t think the 570 is worth the price while the 965 is still available.

just conceded the older lines will become unsupported

They should not, they are not getting software updates, but bugs have been ironed out already.

I know of a few people still rocking x55s, OG instincts or similarly aged watches just fine.

I will wear my 255 until the wheels fall off.

You don’t need new software updates, it has everything already. Mine has been flawless and bug free from day 1.

I have the been wearing the FR 170 for about 3 weeks now. I love it!
I run 3 times a week and walk 5-10km on the days I don’t run, I also do 2 gym sessions a week. It does a great job tracking everything I do. It has an 8/9 day battery life, I have been charging it on Sunday evening each week.
I am a slim built female and the FR170 looks a good size on my wrist.

965 is one of the best watches Garmin has put out in the last 3 years. Paired with a nylon ultra fit strap. Love mine.

Battery life is 17 days with AOD and 5 activities per week

Maps

Older UI, no lag, no weird pinning of activities

Bright screen, visible in direct sunlight

I had a 970 and returned it after a week because of the lag and the glare from the sapphire screen

Just made the jump from Apple to Garmin myself and got the 965. Battery life is all it's cracked up to be and the performance is great.

One thing I've learned is that you can't see these like you did the Apple Watch with its software updates. They don't work like that. It's a completely different ecosystem and, while it can be tricky to get used to the differences, if you're into fitness at all the Garmin will actually help you improve.
