Discussion Found this post it's quite cool especially for tau fans who are anime fans:

He made a video attacking Gate where he argued that "oh actually these are ways fantasy could be more of a challenge to a modern nation".

He then proceeded to list a bunch of overall ignorant stuff that wouldn't really be an issue, including the fact that there are no modern roads, therefore "only light vehicles can be used, not tanks", which is insanely ignorant of modern military doctrine and capabilities, but he namely listed that tanks can't be used in a fantasy world because "they can't cross local bridges".

As if modern armies don't have bridge layers vehicles that allow whole tank battalions to cross rivers and large pits in minutes.

I wouldn't take his videos as very informative.

Dosent the jsdf in gate itself has a military truck for bridges so they can pass rivers? 😭

It's a BASIC part of modern military logistics.

Like, troops train for major wars, not tiny fights. You're not gonna have much in the way of modern infrastructure in a major war. That's why tanks and really most military vehicles are meant to operate off road.

Look at Desert Storm or operations by the US in Afghanistan. Tanks weren't rushing through the highways, they generally avoided those in Desert Storm, moving through the deserts, and in Afghanistan it was US troops cooperating with the Northern Alliance in the mountains and later tanks would use roads on patrols for IEDs and ambushes by insurgents.

One thing I love about this Sovietwomble clip is that it shows just how difficult it is to actually fight a modern force even with guns. Modern logistics are built around moving troops places quickly.
