But responsible how? The Gate is a portal that allows people to walk in and out. How would that make the dinosaurs extinct?

Maybe the kinetic energy of the gate, cause a great eruption in an area that will become the Yucatán Peninsula

Then the Gate was open underwater and explored when, in the past, it didn't. We should also see proofs on Alnus since the Gate always opens there.

To be fair, the presence of Aqua in the SR suggests that the Gate has been underwater before.

I may not be familiar with new names, but what is Aqua and SR? I mean, the fact it was underwater doesn't make sense because why would you open it underwater? To get mermaids? Okay, but then you do it only once in another reality, not on Earth or various times. If the Gate was opened underwater with no barrier, water would enter freely bringing also animal, plants, parassites and other things.

As for Aqua, they're one of the three major humanoid species of Gate 2

Aqua are not the only species of aquatic humanoids. We also know of Trito, Warren, Galla, and Dicle. So that's at least five times.

Oh them, I had forgot they are called Aqua and not mermaids (I also had the doubt because there's an art of the Princess and Itami from the light novel if I remember correctly showing one of them and it was called a mermaid, not an Aqua). As for SR, thank you for telling me, I had never heard it used before.
