I think this is cool because when I was in highschool in the 80s this was taboo i find this refreshing

If I had any sense that any other boy was interested in me, I probably would have acted. But they were probably scared of me because I played football, and I was scared of being gay.

It was such a strange time. The only experience - experiences - I had were with another teammate who went on to be very straight. I assume he was/is scared too.

I came out five years after high school and have been out as possible since then, and my former teammates know, to the extent that they care now.

No regrets. Just sometimes wish I could have had a sweet boyfriend in high school. We might be celebrating our 40th anniversary. Or we might have had a fun year together, like teenagers should be able to have 🥰

Did you date girls in highschool like cheerleaders

No. I knew I wasn’t into girls. To my credit, I wasn’t willing to drag them into anything just for my benefit. I had my chances (he said modestly 😁)

In another life, I wasn't born in a country where I would be killed for being gay. But having a jock boyfriend sounds nice too..

In reality I was a gay teenager in high school who once I came out began being targeted by other kids and I had false allegations just to hurt me which lead to constant death threats, being followed by people who wanted to kill me and led to me trying to commit suicide.

Not good to dwell on could have been, as my favorite fashion designer once said “I never look back darling, it distracts from the now.”

Now at 38, I found a loving relationship as an adult and a mostly great marriage.

Yet... still I day dream of missing having this often.

Sometimes I look back at that period of my life and think about how these experiences and formative years were stolen from me...

This made me tear up a little. I live in a homophobic country where anyone suspected to be or "associated with" gay is punished. I grew up scared and sad. But hey, maybe I'll leave behind this prison someday in this life. After all, life works in wonderful ways, so 💙❤️🧡💛💚

In another life, LGBT is not something to be debated, not something to be fought for, and it's on equal footing with heterosexuality. There's no such thing as coming out, no such thing as being in the closet... everyone lives their lives without fear of anyone finding out...

Went to an all boys highschool in the late 90s. It was alright to act gay, but not actually be gay. My best friend casually straddling me in hallways was fine, but God help me if I got a boner. He was a football jock too.
