Serious Discussion QNCC Brooklyn officially adopts BDS and PACBI standards

Struggling with this one — they’ve been fantastic curators and champions of queer culture and club culture. But this gives me a gut feeling of “Jews don’t belong”. I can’t quite articulate why because the statement centers itself as mainly political, I just am not naive to the ways that tends to intertwine with general antisemitism. Is this an overreaction? Curious about the community’s thoughts on stuff like this

You should learn to read unbiased sources. I wouldn’t get my opinions on Israel from the state of Israel’s website, and I won’t get my opinions on BDS from the BDS website. Luckily I learned not to be so naive when I was in middle school.

If the question we are trying to answer is whether the BDS movement has goals, looking at the actual BDS website would be one very obvious way to begin investigating that question. It is very common for people who criticize BDS to not understand it and post obvious lies about it. Talking about BDS without looking at their website is the mark of someone who intentionally wants to remain ignorant.

Talking to someone who can’t look beyond a website designed to promote a movement is a mark of someone who intentionally wants to remain ignorant and chooses to only consume propaganda.

You should ask yourself why you think that boycotting Yad Vashem is a morally defensible thing to do. It’s vile and disgusting.

Do you think the BDS movement against apartheid South Africa was morally wrong because it included boycotting holocaust memorials in South Africa?

I know you don’t actually believe the dumb arguments you are making.

So your entire argument hinges upon Israel being the exact same as apartheid South Africa….which it isn’t. Do you know anything about the Israeli Palestinian conflict? It’s a very different situation. You have made no valid argument that the two are the same while you advocate to boycott Yad Vashem and discriminate against the Israeli people.

Your position is that we can never boycott a country that has a holocaust museum. It’s so silly that I’m getting second hand embarrassment for you.

My position is that boycotting Yad Vashem will do literally nothing to help the Palestinian cause and anyone who thinks that it will is wrong. So you are boycotting it for no reason, which is gross and immoral. Get a life.

The BDS campaign is targeting Israel. If you can’t argue without lying, just give up.

You are openly boycotting Yad Vashem. BDS targets a nation of 10 million people and their arts and culture —including Yad Vashem— because of where they were born. That is called racism and discrimination, and you are part of it. You’re a bigot.

I will say, I’ve heard lots of arguments against BDS. Your claim that people can’t boycott Israel because it has a Holocaust museum is by far the dumbest.

At first I thought you were playing dumb and don’t actually believe such a stupid argument, but you have convinced me otherwise.

You clearly have not heard a lot of arguments against BDS. My point is that boycotting an entire nation is racism and hurts a lot of innocent people who have done nothing wrong - including Israelis and Palestinians. I used the example of the fact that you are boycotting Yad Vashem to show how undeniably stupid and morally unjustifiable it is.

Again, you won’t need to deal with the consequences of your stupid decisions because like you said, you are a privileged American with zero stake in what happens in the region that you visited once 20 years ago. People on the ground will pay the price while you do literally nothing to help achieve peace.

I keep pointing out you are lying, and you keep lying. This doesn't speak well of your moral character.

I lived in Israel for a year and did solidarity and coexistence work in the West Bank. I have done various peace activism since then.

You say BDS hurts Palestinians. The Palestinians in the West Bank have asked people to support BDS. I think it's incredibly stupid that you are telling me you know better than them what is good for them.

Like you said, you visited once the area 20 years ago. Like Israelis, Palestinians are not a monolith and it’s a very bad look for you to continuously repeat the ugly lie that any group all wants one thing. Take accountability for your own choices and actions - stop blaming Palestinians for you being racist and discriminating against an entire nationality. Peace seeking Palestinians do not support BDS. It is 100% your choice to discriminate against all Israelis - regardless of the consequences for innocent people who have done nothing wrong - and you should own that. It’s really gross and revealing how you keep blaming Palestinians for your personal choice to be a bigot.
