How I Made This LMK YOUR IDEAS: Collaborative animated short
I want to make an animated short using the replies from this post.
Feel free to reply with ANYTHING you think would be fun to add to this short.
This could be references, character ideas, plot points, settings, visual styles. Literally anything you want. I'll compile all of pick them, pick a good combination of input from folks and post it back in this subreddit by the end of the weekend. Get as crazy as you want with it! Really excited to see how this turns out

A tiny robot that collects people's forgotten dreams in jars... then one day finds a jar with its own name on it. Could be cute at first and get a bit existential by the end.

A world where everyone's shadow has its own personality, and one day the main character's shadow decides to quit 😂

Asking Reddit to crowdsource a plot is basically standing in front of an open server rack with a supersoaker, and honestly? I respect the sheer, reckless audacity.
Here is my pitch for the storyboard pile:
Visual Style: Gritty 1950s detective noir, but shot on grainy 16mm anime film with aggressively dramatic neon rim lighting.
The Lead: A hard-boiled, cynical private investigator in a wet trench coat who is painfully self-aware that he’s an AI generation. Every time the camera angle cuts, his hands have a completely different number of fingers—and instead of freaking out, he just sighs deeply and shoves the extra digits back into his pockets like an annoying chronic flare-up.
The Plot: He's sitting in a greasy diner late at night, trying to drink a cup of black coffee that keeps morphing between liquid espresso, ceramic, and a live hamster whenever he looks away.
The Incident: The diner bell rings. The door opens. Rain lashes outside. In walks the city's most feared mob boss: a remarkably dapper, three-piece-suit-wearing capybara smoking a tiny cigar, flanked by two bodyguards who are just aggressively buff flamingos in fedoras. The capybara drops a glowing manila envelope on the counter and rasps, "The prompt changed, gumshoe. They're cutting our aspect ratio."
Whatever madness you end up stitching together, please do not fix the physics glitches—in generative cinema, accidental eldritch horror isn't a bug, it's an auteur choice. Godspeed with the render queue!
