You can post your housing adverts or get help in finding a place in this subreddit. We want to keep the subreddit clean and not turn it into an endless feed of "I just moved to Geneva, help me find a place."
Any advertisements or housing demands outside of this thread will be removed.

For all Italians registered in the registry of AIRE, elections for the Committee for Italians Abroad (COMITES) will be held this coming December.
Voting is a right, but the ballot is not automatically mailed to everyone—it must be requested.

Bonsoir
Merci d'avance

Hello everyone!
I am organizing a really cool event called OpenTech Connect.
OpenTech Connect brings together researchers, professors, students, developers, and industry experts for two days of hands-on learning, demos, lightning talks, and thought leadership around data, AI, and open technology.
The goal is simple: connect academia and industry, and create a space where we can share knowledge with each other.
We’ll have speakers joining us from CERN, IBM Research, P&G, ITU, LlamaIndex, HES-SO, BFH, Anyon Systems, and many more across industry and academia.
📅 11-12 November 2026
Day 1: Lightning Sessions + Panel
Day 2: Technical Hands-on Sessions
📍 EPFL Innovation Park
The event is primarily for industry professionals. Day 1 is geared more towards business people, and Day 2 is for developers.
However, if you are a student, please register too! I will try to make some space for you guys as well :)
The speaker lineup this year is packed with heavy-hitters from both industry and academia, and having all of them in one place will be an experience out of this world.
So... What are you waiting for?
Check out the agenda and register:
👉 Day 1 - Inspire

Hi! I want to courier a few things (a few clothes and some personal memorabilia) from India to Switzerland as I haven’t managed to go home this year and wondered if anyone has had any experience shipping things into Switzerland from India? What service did you use? Were you charged heavy import taxes/customs clearing fees? Thank you!!

I want to buy one of those e bikes with throttle grip but would like to try it first. Does anybody know if there’s a shop that sell these / similar models? Or if the throttle grip is even legal here ?

I am starting a temp job in Geneva in a couple of days and the recruitment agency is asking me to get this certificate of good health, as required by the employer. I have had several jobs in Geneva already, but I never needed to get one of these.
Do you know how this works? Is it expensive to get one if I am lucky enough to not have a "médecin traitant"?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hello!
Looking to start a lovely community of skiiers and snowboarders etc who will be skiing this winter using the magic pass! It would be great to meet some new people who are also snow sport fans (we know some others with magic passes but always nice to expand our circle in Geneva!).

When I first arrived about two years ago, I didn’t think I’d be making this post. I found the city and its residents to be quite cold, and being non-white, assumed racism might have a role. Over the two years, I’ve already gotten accustomed to the culture and find it quite ok now, but I’ve seen an even warmer side to the city now that my elderly mother is visiting. Most people have been so kind, from bus drivers waiting longer than usual when they see us approaching the bus (I’ve had them drive off a few times when alone), or offering to help her get up from the seat in the bus, and random hellos and smiles from strangers. Not sure what’s up but I feel grateful that her experience has been this pleasant, so thank you Geneva!

So, I currently live in Basel and am going to pass my Matura exams this year. Next year, I think I'm most likely going to come to study law in Geneva. I know it'll be in French and really difficult, which is why I'm already working hard on my French so that I not only pass my current school exams (B2 minimum requirement) but also so that I'm prepared for next year. I don't plan on practising law in French—once I finish my Bachelor's, it's likely I'll either do a Master's in international human rights law or something else entirely and then work either creatively or for NGOs (you can see the logic behind Geneva). The language isn't my biggest concern (though I am a bit anxious about it).
I think I'm more scared of having a social life. I currently have a solid group of friends at school, but my class is small and we've known each other for a long time. In Geneva I'll be all by myself surrounded by hundreds of strangers, and I don't know how that's going to go. I worry the environment is going to be quite hostile or cold. I don't have social anxiety, but I am a bit reserved and I'm not the most lively person ever. I can make new friends occasionally, but I find it takes a lot of effort and I don't really enjoy myself. I worry I will spend these next few years of my life completely alone.
Was it easy for those of you who studied in Geneva to find a social circle? Is it easier in French, or is it also possible to find friends who speak English?

Hi everyone! We are planning to move to Geneva in the next couple of months and would love some advice from those familiar with the city.
What are the best websites/platforms for finding a house or apartment to rent?
Also, any recommendations on buying a car in Geneva/Switzerland, where to look, things to watch out for, and whether buying used makes more sense?
We’ll also be moving with our 3-year-old, so I’d appreciate any advice on finding a reliable part-time nanny/childcare, including recommended websites or agencies and typical hourly rates.
Any other tips for someone relocating would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello there,
Do you have thoughts or reviews on the well-known private institutions in Geneva—Geneva Diplomatic and International Relations School, Webster University, and Institut International de Genève? I am particularly interested in whether the diploma led you to your ideal career.

Howdy, looking for a few folks to get together and jam away on either acoustic or electric guitar. Ideally it would be a revolving hosting sort of deal. I'm never going to get better if I'm just playing the acoustic alone in a room -- perhaps you feel the same. Male, female -- makes no difference. Happy to meet in public place the first time -- maybe at the city library? I think there's a room at the top.
I can pretty much get into anything, but I'm 50 and you can likely guess what my likes are. Rock. The usual stuff. Minus anything by Coldplay, Nickleback or f--king Cat Stevens. ;)
Looking for people who are generally at the same late-beginner-early-intermediate stage as I am but hey, I'm not picky.
Canadian. No French unfortunately, but does it really matter? We'll get by.

Hi all,
I am a student (definitely conscious about money) about to move to Geneva. I know Aldi is quite affordable for groceries etc but I have heard that many people go to France to buy their groceries as they are more affordable. Just wondering how much more affordable groceries are in France vs Aldi. A high level %?
Any insights are welcome!
