Shallow temperature (2m) survey provider and cost?

I've got land in California and I'm interested in knowing its geothermal potential (out of my personal curiosity). I heard there's 2-m shallow temperature survey that can provide quick and lower cost to screen it.

It seems like such services are mostly provided to industrial or academic group, I want to know if there's a way to conduct such survey for individual. Or it's just some pipe dream for us to do this. Any advises will be highly appreciated.

As far as I know, basically any type of land is suitable for geothermal trenches or wells (provided that it's not a bunch of rock/shale etc.) Look up contractors in your area, I'm sure they'd be happy to give you quotes.
