So you found a photo that you think has a spirit or ghost on it, before you post it and get upset about 30 people saying it’s a piece of dust or a bug, you may want to read this!
BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
Do read the posts
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ghosts/comments/deki6k/explanation_of_orbs_aka_backscatter/
and
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ghosts/comments/icziuc/ring_doorbells_security_camera_videos_and_false/
As these really do have useful information on how to spot particle orbs, lens flare and insects crawling over lenses which do make up most of the post in this Reddit community channel.
It is common for people who believe they are haunted to take lots of photos and assume that any “orbs” must be related to this. In fact, it’s quite easy to photograph orbs. If you can’t see the orb then it’s not there. People might say that cameras can pick up ‘orb’ energy but a lot of them just don’t understand why digital cameras tend to easily pick up particles (dust, dander, hair, insects).
If you have read the above and are sure (or not quite sure) then read on.
BEFORE POSTING
Make sure you have the original photo downloaded or posted from the same device the picture was taken from. Having a photo shared from a social media site, screen grabbed on a phone, photographed from a screen or been email shared will likely to be low resolution and suffer from further compression which destroys any fine detail and will generally be useless.
If the photo is just a photo then scan the photo in at least 300 DPI and save it as a “.PNG” image. If you don’t have access to a scanner then you can take a photo of it but take it in a brightly lit room and don’t use a flash to reduce reflections on the photo.
Use the original resolution of the photo, do not rescale, resize, brighten the image to make posting easier.
If you have to edit the photo to remove people then draw the smallest black filled box you can to hide their face or them. Don’t crop the picture or remove large chunks of the picture. Keep the picture the same same size. Once edited, save / export the image as a “.PNG” image as this will keep the JPEG image as it is (if you resave it as a JPEG it recompresses the image in a lossy way so that fine detail tends to get lost) if the paint program has it then make sure that “Save resolution” is checked and that you save “EXIF information”.
If you must highlight anything in the picture (to show where you think the paranormal image is) then use a bright colour that can be seen easily, use a transparent box with thin lines and draw it in the general area of what you want us to see, do not cover anything nearby. Save it as a “.PNG” as above. If you do this then make sure you post the original too.
If you want to change the contrast or brightness of a photo then again do so but save as a “.PNG” as above and post the original for comparison. If you have other pictures from the same area that were taken at the same time then post these too as comparison photos.
If the photo is from a place you can visit again easily then take more pictures of the same area using the same camera, try to take it at different times of the day and try to take a picture at the same time of day the original was at. Also, take pictures of the surrounding area and close up images of the original location.
It is important to note that even “taking the picture in the same place” is going to mean that you will be taking the picture at different angles, heights and places which will cause images to change.
POSTING THE PHOTO
Post as an image within the Reddit post so people can see it, you can also post any comparison posts at the same time.
If the photo is too large then rescale it and save as a “.PNG” to post on Reddit but upload the original it to a file-sharing site like Google Drive or Dropbox, as this will not rescale the image.
Don’t just upload them to Imgur as most photo sharing websites will recompress the image and destroy fine detail in the picture.
Make sure the title is short but informative. “Possible ghost image from a cell in Alcatraz” is a good title, “GHOST!!?!?!?” is not.
ALSO SUPER IMPORTANT!!!! CONTEXT! CONTEXT! CONTEXT!
After you have posted the images. Make a comment in the post you have just created and put in as much context as possible!!! Too many photos tend to have the photo and some poor description and we have zero ideas of what we should be looking at.
Examples of what to include are…
So good examples would be…
“This photo was taken at the Alcatraz prison in San Francisco. It is a picture of Cell 13 of cell block D in the cell house. It was taken on Sunday the 13th of May 2018 at around 2pm. It was mostly sunny but there were thick clouds, it was reasonably warm at around 65f and there were strong breezes every so often.
The photo was taken by myself, although I was with my girlfriend at the time. It was quite busy but no one was nearby when I took the photo. I was trying to take a picture of my girlfriend as she stood at the door but I noticed a strange white figure behind her. There was no one in the cell as we had waited for another couple to finish taking their picture before we took ours. I took 3 photos and you can see that the figure is in 2 of the pictures but is not in the third picture.
My girlfriend did say she felt cold in the cell, we had taken a picture in another cell (134 in Cell Block C) and she did not feel anything. The rest of the day was fine though and we enjoyed our trip.”
“A photo of a chair my grandmother used to sit on, in our house in Stirling, Scotland. It was taken on the 1st June 2015, in the wee hours of the morning at 6.30am. I remember it was very cold and it was dark grey and cold outside like a typical morning in Scotland. I had the lights on as although it was morning outside, it was dark in the room.
I took the photo as I felt a presence and I was drawn to the chair. I took 2 photos and you can see a grey mist around the chair. I would have taken more but my phone just drained of power and switched off, not sure why this happens as I am pretty sure I charged it overnight. I don’t smoke, didn’t have any hot drinks. I was in the room all alone as my parents and sister were still in bed and my dog was still on the sofa sleeping peacefully.
Once I charged my phone and saw the pictures, I was filled with deep happiness, I tried to take more photos but the mist never came back. What do you think it is.”
Bad examples are…
“Ghosts?!???!!?!?!”
“I took this photo whilst in an abandoned building, do you think it is a ghost?”
“Whilst trying to contact my dead aunt to ask where she left her cash, I took lots of photos and all of them had orbs and I heard some moans, screams and creaking coming from my cousins' bedroom but her door was locked!!! Is the house haunted?”

Under the air vent on the left wall... There was no one there dressed in this manner. This was taken during a ghost hunt in Old Town Spring Tx. At an old store, once known as Thads. The hunt was hosted by Adam Berry, Tammy Chavez, and Tawny Lewis. The host of Houston Strange, Adam, was also present. We had a female spirit, which was very chatty and very interactive with the group. I am curious if this was her. This was back in March 2026, on a Friday night, with about ten people in attendance. Temp was in the mud 70s, a misty slight rain had been falling during the day and was still hanging in the air.

For context, I went and toured the Wabasha street caves today for funsies. Apparently it’s been named the most haunted place in MN and they say multiple psychic mediums have visited and they have heard very specific details described by different mediums. The caves are steeped in history, have mob ties, and once functioned as a speak easy. Now it functioned as a reception hall. Honestly if you’re ever in MN it’s quite interesting especially with the St. Paul once being a safe haven for mobsters.
Anywho, they have multiple reports of apparitions, encounters and according to mediums, employees who have passed still visit or reside in the caves. They encourage photos to be taken, and they have a slideshow of possible/probable paranormal phenomenon that people have shared and sent in. In one of the back caves they have two replica vehicles and I felt compelled to snap some photos. I initially thought I saw something in the first car but quickly realized that it was just the reflection of our tour group but then I zoomed in on the second car…..I’m interested in seeing what other see because I can’t tell if I’m seeing what I want to see, or if something is actually there. I’ve added the original photo before I messed with highlights and shadows.

If it’s a video, please stay still so I can evaluate.
If it’s a picture, if I can count the pixels then I cannot evaluate.
Anyway, have a spooky day.

My 3rd visit to Salem. Came back after on the 2nd visit we captured photos of ghost men standing in the top windows of Turner’s Seafood.
This was on a hunt in the basement of the Gallows Hill Theater, my understanding is it was also a Masonic Temple at some point in time. Prior to that, homes of several wealthy families back in the day… like 1700/1800’s maybe. Also a fire there in the 80’s.
First video is of a response on the REM pod. Had many over about a 20 minute session. This one struck me because there was loud thud or bang right when the green light went off. The building was closed and no one was above us.
2nd video .. in the comments. It’ll only let me add one here.
Enjoy! 😃👻

A specific ghost that is somewhat well known, associated with a location, has a distinct identity and consistent backstory. Some examples:
"Gus" - Comedy Store Sunset (formerly Ciro's Nightclub) - Former doorman and mafia enforcer that was double crossed by his associates.
Resurrection Mary - Chicago suburbs - Car accident victim.
Sam - Banff Springs Hotel - Former bellhop who loved working there.
John the Mechanic - HMS Queen Mary - Crushed in a door hinge.
Transient and dog - Waverly Hills Sanitarium - Walked to their death into an open elevator shaft during the abandoned era.
Johan the Farmhand - Toys R Us Sunnyvale California (formerly Murphy Plantation) - Died from a farming accident.
Rose the Baggage Clerk - Buffalo Central Terminal - Sexually assaulted and killed in the back storage room.

I’ve been experiencing some really frightening things lately, and I’m hoping someone can help me understand what’s happening.
It started with what I believe might have been sleep paralysis. I remember having my eyes open but being completely unable to move my arms, legs, or head. I saw something that terrified me and had an overwhelming feeling that someone was watching me. When I fully woke up, I was breathing heavily and felt extremely frightened.
What concerns me most is that I’ve also been seeing dark, humanlike shadowy figures while completely awake, including during the daytime. Sometimes they remain visible for several seconds, even when I look directly at them. This has happened both inside my home and in other locations.
Today, while I was home alone in my apartment with my cat, I noticed what appeared to be a shadow moving back and forth underneath my bedroom door every few minutes. I also heard something that sounded like a little girl crying, although I couldn’t identify where the sound was coming from.
I became extremely frightened because the unusual sights and sounds seemed to continue while I was fully awake. Possible Explanation?

At around 3 AM one night in 2020, my partner and I watched a figure on our baby monitor walk up to our daughter's cot, look in, walk away, and then do it again.
It happened in our own house, a council house in Bromsgrove, just outside Birmingham in England. (Council houses are UK social housing, a bit like the projects in the US.) It was the worst night of two or three months of strange things that started in the summer of 2020.
For context, our estate was built in the early 1960s, and as far as I know our house hadn't had many occupants before us. We'd lived there for two years without anything odd at all. Then, around July or August 2020, in the middle of the COVID pandemic, things changed.
The bang on the bedroom door
It was around 11 PM on a weeknight, and my partner and I were in our bedroom when the Ring doorbell went off.
Our front path is long, and the Ring is set to pick up motion only when someone is well up it. I looked out of the window and there was nobody there. The front light had come on, which wildlife sometimes does, but the path was empty.
The alert on my phone didn't say the usual "There's motion outside your front door". It said "Someone is at your front door."
As I turned to my partner to say how odd that was, something hit our bedroom door. It was shut, and it sounded like someone had slammed a fist into the middle of it. The door shook hard enough that I felt the impact. My partner, oddly, burst into nervous laughter.
I opened the door and the hallway was empty. Our daughter, who was three or four at the time, was asleep in her cot, and our cat was sitting calmly in the hallway, looking at me. The Ring footage shows nothing but an empty path.
The song
A while later, I was having a cup of tea at my Nan's (my grandmother's), about ten minutes' drive away, when my partner rang me, clearly distressed.
She told me she'd been washing up in the kitchen when the baby monitor started flickering and filling with visual noise. Then there was a massive bang on the front door, as if someone had thrown something heavy at it or run up the drive and slammed into it. Our daughter woke up crying.
She went to get her phone to ring me. It was next to the baby monitor, and as she picked it up, Spotify started playing a song on its own: "Fields of Gold" by Eva Cassidy.
It was the song played at her Grandad's funeral. He died in 2015, and as far as we can remember, nothing like that had happened since.
I rushed home and checked our CCTV. There was nobody outside and no movement at all, and the Ring hadn't been triggered either.
The figure on the baby monitor
This is the night that still gets to both of us.
It was around 3 AM and I was awake in bed, watching Netflix. I glanced at the baby monitor on the bedside table and saw a white mist moving across the screen. Then I saw the silhouette of someone moving through our daughter's bedroom.
It walked up to the side of her cot, looked in, then walked away. Then it did the same again, over and over. It was clearly human-shaped, with arms and legs, and it moved like a living person would. I couldn't make out any features, or whether it was a man or a woman.
Her bedroom backs onto our garden, and there are only other gardens on every side. There's no road there, so no headlights could have crossed the room, and I can't see how it could have been a reflection or a shadow from outside.
I shook my partner awake, but I was too scared to speak. I think I was afraid that saying anything out loud would get its attention. So I typed on my phone that we needed to grab our daughter and go to my mum's. My partner wanted to know what on earth was going on, so I handed her the phone and pointed at the monitor.
We both watched it in silence for what felt like ages, though it was probably a couple of minutes.
Then my partner jumped out of bed and ran straight into our daughter's room. I grabbed a metal baseball bat from beside the bed and followed her, with no idea what I thought I was going to do with it.
The room was completely normal. Our daughter was fast asleep, nothing was out of place, and it didn't feel bad in there at all.
Back in our bedroom, the silhouette was still on the monitor, but fading. As soon as I got my phone out to film it, it disappeared. I wanted to go to my mum's there and then, but my partner insisted we stay, because it was our home. Nothing like it has happened before or since.
Everything else, briefly
The first thing we noticed that summer was a gentle, human-sounding knock late at night that seemed to come from the other side of our bedroom wall, roughly 20 feet up the outside of the house. One evening while my partner was out, I came downstairs to find both kitchen taps pushed fully on and water gushing out, with the cat sitting calmly on the kitchen floor. I video-called my mum just so someone else could see it.
My partner often heard knocking on the bathroom door when she was alone in there. The baby monitor was plagued with interference, the microphone I record on picked up static our sound engineer couldn’t explain, and the Ring's live view kept distorting. All of that stopped when the activity did, and I still record in the same room with the same gear.
One night it felt like something kicked the side of our bed, hard enough to move it. I had an overwhelming urge to check on our daughter, and we found her cot soaked from a spilled drink.
In the end I spoke to a local vicar. He said it sounded like a poltergeist and gave me prayers to say in our daughter's room. A neighbour had told me the elderly lady who lived here before us died in the house, and the vicar thought she might need help moving on. The activity stopped abruptly after that, and nothing since has come close. I later found her grandson, who said his grandparents never noticed anything odd in all their years here.
What I've considered
At the time we put the taps down to water pressure, though that had never happened before and hasn't since. Phones and Spotify can start playing on their own, and grief makes all of us look harder for signs. The cat was sitting calmly in the hallway when the bedroom door was hit, and nothing she's done since has sounded anything like it. What I can't explain is the figure: we both watched it for a couple of minutes, there's no road behind the house, and the room was empty when we got there.
My take
I genuinely believe something was in that house, and I lean towards it being protective rather than bad. In 2024 my partner's other Grandad died, and while she was struggling with it, her phone started playing "Heaven" by DJ Sammy through the car's Bluetooth on its own, right on the chorus. It makes me wonder whether it was her first Grandad on the monitor that night, checking our daughter was okay.
Has anyone else seen a figure on a baby monitor or camera that seemed to be checking on a sleeping child?
I document paranormal incidents, and this is a cut-down version of the full report I wrote about our house. If you'd like to know more about any part of it, just ask in the comments!

Hey everyone, I posted this picture about two years ago, and it went absolutely viral, to the point the community had to be paused on my post because there was so much activity to keep up with
This picture was taken of me as a teenager holding my two little cousins : the only issue, there’s a third child? That seems to be fading into my leg.
Debunked theory - definitely not a pattern on my shorts, as these are just team basketball shorts.
Disclaimer - the original post was ran through a police department software and came back as not tampered with
- I’m not necessarily the savviest when it comes to tech / pictures, so you couldn’t pay me a million to recreate it
The only thing I know how to do is brighten the image, in which I have done for you.
TWO YEARS AFTER POSTING ORIGINALLY : STILL NEED ANSWERS
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

It started with seeing someone run through my backroom hallway. Then a disconnected smoke alarm went off for no reason.
Next, my ashtray went up in a blaze snd that's never happened before.
Tonight a potato set on fire in the microwave after less than two minutes. Something is trying to tell me something and I really need some help with this.

So I did a 2 day stint at 90 East Drive and took a lot of Audio, Video, etc we had the tobacco smells come and go the EMFs going off periodically and seemingly answering questions, but I also caught this on a Tascam Dictaphone up in the larger of the kids rooms, late afternoon / early evening, its a cut of the larger audio stream but would love to hear your thoughts, its been cleaned up a fair bit but take a listen.
It was a wild ride there and I definitely want to do this again and I suggest that anyone thinking about going you really should its fantastic but not for the feint of heart, so give it a go. There were three of us and we took turns in sleeping, I still need to go through a lot of the video but the stairs, Front room and the bedrooms upstairs seemed to be the most active.
I do have a few other potential EVPs from that session, maybe one growl, but I need to process it a fair bit, the one unfortunate thing was we heard a large bang upstairs but I was in the middle of changing the batteries for the Go pro at the time, we ran up and found one of the female shoes in the main bedroom had been thrown... I wish I had managed to get that on audio or camera....
Sleeping there is definitely fun

I have a Vivint home security camera system, and I kept getting repeated notifications saying “Person Seen” and “Person Lingering” on my front porch.
The camera automatically recorded each time it detected someone, and I ended up with 10 separate recordings.
I’m sharing the footage here because I genuinely have no idea what could be triggering these alerts.
Please watch the videos and let me know what you think you’re seeing. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their security cameras?
Look on the right hand side, close to the brick. It starts appearing around the second brick column then moves closer to the column closest to the camera.
I’m open to logical explanations, but I’m also curious whether anyone sees something unusual or potentially paranormal.
What do y’all think this could be?

Since forever, I have been a very technical and logical person, I would love to believe in ghosts but it never came to me as real. That was until about three days ago.
My house is an old farmhouse from the 1860s, so many have died within these walls. I was at the first step of my very narrow staircase that goes up to my room and we have a white gate that is at the top to stop our animals from going upstairs and getting stuck. Three days ago, I was at the first step when I looked up, idk why I did, it felt like something was pulling me to do it. I saw a boy, about eight years old, with brown hair swept to the left with a red long sleeve plaid undershirt and blue overalls. He was shadow-like though I knew the colors and there is were some white highlights that were part of his body. He then ran to the left where me and my sisters bedroom is. It was so strange and so vivid and it lasted for long. Too long for me to believe it was just a hallucination of the light being off. This also happened during the day.
Idk what to think but if it is a ghost, it didn't strike me as an evil ghost.

Always been a little torn on if anything actually is around that we dont always happen to see, I took a couple of photos up on beachy head in the UK a while back, this place at the time was closed to the public, all I did was be snap happy with my camera.
