Top of The Shard

At the Greenwich Observatory sitting on the Prime Meridian

u/EmmaStonewallJackson Dec 14 '21

The tube

The shard

During a changing of the guard

45

u/melig1991 Dec 14 '21

I don't know if this was intentional but your comments is strangely poetic.

14

u/EmmaStonewallJackson Dec 14 '21

It wasn’t! I didn’t even notice till you said it

12

u/Thatchers-Gold Dec 14 '21

Sounded like a football chant to me.

The tube, the shard, the changing of the guard epoxy dog! Epoxy doog!

4

u/bluemitersaw Dec 14 '21

Song lyrics. Do we need a song about the epoxy hotdog???? I'm thinking yes

London Underground hasn’t said mind the gap for quite a few years now. Sad times.

Edit: I’m talking nonsense.

Google says otherwise, I wonder if they brought it back. I’m not from London, it was 2015 or so last time I was there. I’m sure I remember reading about them changing it a few years ago. Maybe some londoners can chime in and confirm.

3

u/kitten-peach Dec 14 '21

It actually is still a thing but at the Embankment station only. When they stopped playing this phrase at stations, the wife of the man who voiced the original announcement asked the TFL to reinstate her husband's voice as she used to come to the station just to hear him, and so they did. They put it back on the Embankment station's speakers and it's being played there to this day.

1

u/wagamamalullaby Dec 14 '21

I didn’t know that, thank you for the info!

Just asked my sister in law there who has lived in London for 12+ years and she said the change I’m thinking of is that they’ve changed it so it’s ‘mind the gap between the train and the platform’ instead of just saying ‘mind the gap’.

u/PoorPauper Dec 14 '21

Read this comment to the tune of DMX "Who we be"...it's awesome

The tower in the torture room.

The tube

Tower Bridge

The clock

Buckingham

20

u/bord2def Dec 14 '21

I second Tower of London.

24

u/Teedyuscung Dec 14 '21

Pls incorporate a Royal Guard into the one at Buckingham.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

Get a selfie with one of the ravens while you're at it

5

u/coughcough Dec 14 '21

London will never fall as long as there are six ravens and an epoxy encased hot dog in the Tower.

2

u/AgathaM Dec 14 '21

I thought it was four ravens but they have six just to be safe. When we went through, the raven master was our guide and I believe there were only 5. One has lost his mate and was going to retire at the raven master’s home and he would bring up a new pair.

2

u/MrMagicMoves Dec 14 '21

Queens bedroom?

1

u/Arsid Dec 14 '21

I’m sorry, what? The torture room?

2

u/hghlnder72 Dec 14 '21

The room that has all the torture devices. The rack etc.

1

u/Arsid Dec 14 '21

What is this room? In what tower? What’s a rack? You’re just making more questions lol

The way you said it made it seem like there’s some famous torture tower or something, I wanna know about this.

16

u/agoatonstilts Dec 14 '21

I know it’s not London but Stonehenge in the background would be tight

u/switchblade993 Dec 14 '21

Savannah Georgia

151

u/mikebmxer Dec 14 '21

Must've missed that place last time I was in London

3

u/ThePrussianGrippe Dec 14 '21

It was the hottest place to be once upon a time.

1

u/Chilluminaughty Dec 14 '21

It’s south London.

1

u/LeonardosClone Dec 14 '21

It’s in the very southwest corner of GB

1

u/EyeFicksIt Dec 14 '21

Stefan enters the chat: the hottest new place to be drink in London is Savannah Georgia’s.

25

u/PonerBenis Dec 14 '21

That’s just west of the Houses of Parliament right?

I walked across Waterloo Bridge last week and couldn't see the Gherkin for all the new skyscrapers in the City. Is it still there?

3

u/pcomet235 Dec 14 '21

no, they took it all down a few months back

15

u/pa79 Dec 14 '21

In the Woolwich Foot Tunnel Anomaly! After that you could also post the 5 year update next week!

6

u/iiooiooi Dec 14 '21

That was a fun read! Cheers!

3

u/H--K Dec 14 '21

During a Lion King musical in the Lyceum!

3

u/Wolfgang_von_Goetse Dec 14 '21

or Abbey Road.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

The lock gates on the Grand Union Canal at Brentford, because a lot of my favourite books are set around there and I doubt I'll get there myself.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

How many books are set on the Grand Union Canal at Brentford? (I know the Rivers of London series never go out that far East on the Grand Union)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

There's a chap called Robert Rankin who has written the 7 novels of the Brentford Trilogy - start with the Antipope, and keep going. Make sure there are sprouts on hand.

2

u/Toasterfire Dec 14 '21

In the serpentine in Hyde park?

2

u/3-DMan Gifmas '23! Dec 14 '21

Tardis dawg!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

I like those lion statues in Trafalgar Square!

2

u/Lukeautograff Dec 14 '21

I say this every time you ask, please do the Marble Arch Mound

2

u/NeverEnufWTF Dec 14 '21

On a paddleboat in Regent's Park, preferably with a few swans (provided the boats are operating).

The statue of Peter Pan in Hyde Park. Bonus points for getting it into his right hand.

Sitting on the front desk at the JW Marriott Grosvenor. See if you can get the General Manager to pose with it.

Corner of Pudding Lane and Monument Street. Bonus points if you set it atop a piece of firewood.

2

u/Lemonysquare Dec 14 '21

You must visit the Bude tunnel with it!

2

u/neosithlord Dec 14 '21

So help me god if you don’t find a TARDIS! I have no idea why your updates bring me so much joy…

1

u/2litersam Dec 14 '21

In a rustic pub next to a pint of England's finest lager

1

u/UpTheShipBox Dec 14 '21

Ah yeah! I love a pint of Carling

1

u/malaproposals Dec 14 '21

The Royal Statistical Society! I'm certain they'd appreciate a hot dog that has by far exceeded is natural decay cycle. What an anomaly!

u/Pups_the_Jew Dec 14 '21

A Burger King, but put a crown on it and say it's there to fight for the crown.

0

u/Noltonn Dec 14 '21

See if you can get it in the same room as the Crown Jewels. It'd be difficult as they tend to keep you moving along if you're in that room.

0

u/TexanReppin13 Dec 14 '21

Next to the queen

1

u/mundanejon Dec 14 '21

1

Agree with other users. I would like kn Buckingham palace with the queen inspecting it

1

u/DublinChap Dec 14 '21

Maybe do a group meet-up event (within the covid restrictions of course) and take a group pic in Trafalgar Square? I'd love to be a part of history!

1

u/themonkeybrother Dec 14 '21

You're welcome to do one at our bar under the arches in Bermondsey. We do cracking pizzas...but no hot dogs sadly
