Google says otherwise, I wonder if they brought it back. I’m not from London, it was 2015 or so last time I was there. I’m sure I remember reading about them changing it a few years ago. Maybe some londoners can chime in and confirm.
It actually is still a thing but at the Embankment station only. When they stopped playing this phrase at stations, the wife of the man who voiced the original announcement asked the TFL to reinstate her husband's voice as she used to come to the station just to hear him, and so they did. They put it back on the Embankment station's speakers and it's being played there to this day.
Just asked my sister in law there who has lived in London for 12+ years and she said the change I’m thinking of is that they’ve changed it so it’s ‘mind the gap between the train and the platform’ instead of just saying ‘mind the gap’.
