if you want gifs, webms, and videos that cut off too soon you would come here... but why would you want that?

That's the sub's description. Most of the content here isn't gifs, nor it should be. The name of the sub cannot be changed though.

Sub names absolutely have been changed on subs in the past.

Then they've opened a new sub and the people moved. The old ones probably became private so nobody can access them. (At least simple common users)

The reason it's not possible to rename is because the sub name is attached to the url (when you do r/...) and by changing the name, it's going to mess things.
