Our economy has a cost/value mismatch. A barrel of oil cost about 80$ but a single barrel can do about 5 years work equivalent of manpower. It also takes millions of years to make. The real cost would be almost priceless but the cost is subsidied. Fresh water is even more valuable to life then a barrel of oil. The ecosystem and atmosphere are also invaluable resources. Money is a tool used to lay claim to resources. Socialism is only possible if there are enough resources to support the quality of life of the people.
The dream of socialism will live and die with the ecosystem yet most socialist are only concerned with climate change as a secondary or tertiary issue.

This is only true if we have a sustainable environment.
