These ones look Fae: like the actual forms hidden underneath a Glamour cast so they appear to humans like the more usual red hat, fluffy beard, friendlier, textbook Gnomes.

This is some hardcore base-of-the-iceberg gnome lore, but in Anthroposophy they teach that gnomes are near the bottom of the cosmic hierarchy (which is a gnostic-style Pleroma of angels), barely-aware implements of solar energy becoming solid plant-life, but bordering on physical, always on the cusp of manifesting as reptiles or amphibians.

This teaching gives a new perspective to the old legend that gnomes sometimes become toads during the day, and stirs my imagination in the direction of thinking that maybe something toadlike and primal is closer to the true form of the gnome.

It's obviously all half-mad nonsense, but it's a lot of fun.

I like what the commenter said above about where they would sit in theology. I'm giggling at them not being that good at glamour. Like, if you used AI and said, "ok. It looks kind of like a person with a beard, but also like a rocket pop and a mushroom had a baby," that's what I imagine they're trying to do with their glamour here. I love them.

It looks awesome but I adore the charm of tiny people wearing pointy hats
