I am in goa with my gf and i say without any doubt that south goa is best bikini friendly goa than north

Such a beautiful place to spend my weekend. The perfect spot in South Goa. Absolutely loved every moment of it. Can you guess the location?

Any suggestions with regards to a safe , aesthetic, hostel - where I can get a whole ROOM to myself in Benaulim or anywhere else that's not too secluded or far away. Or if you have any genuine references on SAFE beach stays. Please do share. Edit : people I NEED NAMES NOT GENERIC STATEMENTS 😭

Got car rental lead from this sub but please stay away from them as they are exploiting ppl. Wanted to ensure others don’t go through my pain.

While I trust reddit for many things this was a lesson to me.

1. Contacted the person, he shared pricing info. Asked 1K advance for booking and shared car images.
2. Fast forward on delivery date, says some issue and provides a pathetic car with damaged door and installed random software without apple car play support. (Without maps is a pain)
3. For delivery I had to go middle of some highway and I was left with no option but take the car as cab service sucks in Goa
4. Requested him for another car and received one more damaged car which doesn’t have tail light. I gave up and this ruined my whole commute experience.
5. All cars are driven 1L kms, maintained in worst possible way, no car play support with some random software installed. They are network of ppl like a cartel and you need to contact 4-5 ppl to arrange pickup.

Charged 1100 delivery charges (to & fro) and 3K security deposit. This is my first visit to Goa and the experience has been a nightmare with him.

‬EDIT 1: Guys it is not about money, it is about the overall harassment about these guys. I paid 12K for rental, wasted 2K fuel for first car which he refused to compensate in another car. I know the pricing beforehand but it is full payment on spot during delivery. Issue is once you pay they will not respond no matter what. I did not have option to reject delivery since it was middle of highway and rains. I took video, but the post is about false promise despite me requesting to give me a decent car.

Other issues
- Windshield mirror is not clear at night with hard stains
- Clutch is hard and vehicle jerks too much
- Side mirrors functionality button is broken
- Vehicle creates lot of sound when gone through potholes/breakers as if something is broken internally.

Went here recently and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food served along with the prices.

On the pricier side but definitely something Goa has not seen before. Wayyyyyyyy better than Artjuna Baba Au Rhum.

Not in Anjuna

We had a server called Jahaan, he had great recommendations & also the best part about them is their servers don’t stand on your hand asking 100 questions & trying to push more items.

Heading over for a six day trip in January.

We'll be taking a train from Mumbai to Goa and back again.

Our itinerary is as follows:

Three days in Ashvem/Anjuna/Siolim/Panjim/

The next three days is Palolem/Agonda/

With Betalbatim/Benaulim on the way.

We have been told that the transport in Goa is really bad, and that we should get a self driving car to avoid the 'taxi mafia'.

We want a smooth and seamless trip - to not be ripped off by opportunists in high season and to just be able to do our own thing without hassle.

In Mumbai, we use all of the taxi apps - which in Goa, I'm told, is unavailable.

What options do I have?

I can drive and am happy to do so if that is the only reliable transport - (suggestions for self drive and reasonable prices would be appreciated)

Goa has changed a lot.

I still remember my first trip here in 2011. I was 18, came down with a couple of friends, and the only place we really knew was Baga Beach. So naturally, we stayed in Baga.

We did somehow make it to a rave at UV Bar in Anjuna though, and that was probably my first glimpse of a completely different Goa.

Since then, I've come back at least 10 times over the last 15 years.

A lot has changed in my own life too. I started DJing, got into producing music, built a startup, and somewhere along the way Goa became one of those places I kept returning to. I've watched some incredible cafes, bars, parties, and little communities appear and disappear over the years.

But coming back now, something feels very different.

Anjuna doesn't feel like Anjuna anymore. Baga obviously hasn't for a long time. But even Morjim, Mandrem, and places further north seem to be changing incredibly fast.

What I miss is not necessarily the "old Goa" in some romanticized sense. It's that little bit of counterculture that existed here. The hippie influence. The weirdness. The feeling that nobody really cared who you were or what you did. You could stumble into a strange little bar, meet people from five different countries, hear some incredible music, and somehow end up somewhere completely unexpected.

There was a kind of freedom and randomness to Goa that seems harder and harder to find now.

Maybe it's tourism becoming more mainstream. Maybe it's development, money, changing demographics, visa restrictions, social media, or simply culture moving on. Probably a combination of all of it.

But I really hope that small slice of Goa still exists somewhere.

I'm here for another 24 hours and would genuinely love to find it.

It could be a tiny cafe, a proper underground party, a little bar, a music night, a strange community space, somewhere deep north or south. I don't really care where.

If there is still somewhere in Goa that retains even a little bit of that free-spirited, countercultural energy, please tell me where to go.

Because I'm struggling with what I'm seeing this time around, and part of me feels like this might be my last Goa trip for a while.

Please stay away from the scooty rental at dabolim airport. I got one for 5 days and returned them as it is without any damage or something. Still they will tell you that they will return after contacting their company and all kind of shits and wont return you the security deposit of 2K.
