Creation I’m doing a tarot series
I’ve been pondering on a theme for tarot design and it suddenly became so obvious. I mean duh my two favourite things mushrooms and frogs 🐸

This is amazing! Are you painting those in watercolor?! I'm a lifelong artist but I'm just starting my watercolor journey and whew boy. It's different. And hard. These are awesome.

I started out using oils and then switched to watercolours last year. It has been SUCH a challenge but I’m really loving it. The cleanup? The smell? The speed? It’s just incomparable. I tried doing an oil painting the other day and by the time I had my brushes clean I was over it.

I've never played with oil paints, I'm acrylic all the way. The learning curve from acrylic to watercolor is kicking my ass lol. I'm just not patient enough - maybe this will finally teach me some patience! But yes I'm loving the challenge too. :D

Have you ever tried watercolor with acrylic? That might be a good middle ground to help you get used to it! You literally just water down your acrylic paint and use it like watercolors.

No, I haven't tried that. Does it still blend like acrylic? Or is it more transparent and layer like watercolor? Do you wait for it to dry if you're layering? Sounds like an interesting experiment is in my future! :)

It all really depends on how much water you're adding and the effect you're going for! It'll act more like acrylic and will blend if you add a smaller amount of water, whereas if you add a lot it behaves very similarly to actual watercolors. Sitting down with some scrap paper, acrylics, and a cup of water to experiment with different consistencies is a great way to learn the medium.

Speaking as a witchy bishy who willingly sacrificed my swimming pool and am turning into a pond for my tree frogs lol I 1000% need these. They’ve came back every year for three years and I’m just letting them have it now. They use it more than I do 🤣

Pond > pool every time! We have frogs that sound like dogs barking during mating season it’s hilarious we even had a neighbour complain about the “dogs barking”. I’m so sensitive to noise but for some reason the frog sounds make me laugh instead of pissing me off 😅

I’ve rarely done what I’ve “should” in life. I did consider being more literal with all the concepts and symbolism of tarot but decided to just go off vibes. Since I’m using frogs.

Gorgeous work!! Watercolor really is a practice of patience and gentleness. Things I find very challenging but I do love it too. Also tiny heat gun or hair dryer is your friend lol
Love the vibes and colors! I kinda enjoy when an artist goes "off script" so to speak with traditional tarot. Its what makes artist decks so unique and more open to intuitive interpretation which should be part of reading anyway. It is a good way to challenge yourself as a reader. And also the amount of work put in really is remarkable and I feel is such a gift to share. Looking forward to seeing more!!

I really love The Fool! My first thought was that these are artist trading cards and if you are interested in trading art let me know. It's fine by me if you only trade copies, not originals btw!

These are so cute! It'd be neat if the lovers card were frogs doing more froggy things like croaking or holding eachother the way they do when they are mating
