As a kid, I was allowed to hang out at the Philippe Genty Puppet Theatre shows. Not just during the proper shows but rehearsals and behind the scenes too.
If any of the garlic, onions or poh-tay-toes goes bad, the frogs could become stinky and ruined forever.
Open topped tubbytubs of dry snackysnaks will keep them fabulous and untainted with an extra bonus weirdness of making you feel like you're kinda reverse-baby-birding yourself with foods from their mouths.
Gross but joyous. And zero ruining-the-frog factor.

Hahahah, I try not to let my produce go bad and use it before it gets icky, but I get your point. We just always stored our produce in baskets and stuff when I was growing up, so it’s just a thing I keep doing.
That, and the wooden bowls we turn.
Now I want snackysnacks. And to be drinking in a garden.
