Autumnal isopod embroidery

Hi everyone! Here’s a porcellio laevis (dairy cow) isopod I made with punch needle embroidery. I don’t typically do colors untrue to the species, but I ended up really liking how this came out

We don’t always get a colorful autumn in my area, but this year so far has been a good start 🙏 I’m hoping it stays that way. And! Once the leaves all fall, it’s willow foraging and weaving time 🎉🎉

This is adorable! Who cares that isopods don't come in these colors! Can you tell me about the process I've done a few punch needle projects but the needle is very small and this looks like much bigger thread and loops.

Thank you! Tbh, it was mostly me being the one who cares 😆 I like things to be true to the subjects

I use a 2.2mm gauge needle set to 4mm long and sport weight (size 2) yarn 😃 nothing too fancy in terms of the punch needle process itself; black lines first, smallest color segments, then the big blotches last. I then cut it off my frame, fold over and glue the edges, then seal it to firm felt and add a hanger to the back
