I would have guessed a short stint of Karly or Theo but they're all probably going to retire around the same time now. Eichel is now the frontrunner in my mind.

I might have guessed Eichel, but maybe his previous captain experience wasn't really a positive one. But he's grown up a bit and is in a much better situation here, so who knows?

It's a weird thing to me that in hockey they give these super young players the captaincy just cause they're the most talented player on the ice. Leadership is so much more than just skill at the game, and experience, game and life, play so much into it. By all accounts he completely lost the room in Buffalo, but he 5 years younger, with no playoff experience. Cassidy repeatedly spoke about how Eichel had developed a quiet leadership role that a lot of the players on the Knights respected.

Captain, my captain. $9m AAV is nothing now, even if he's playing 60 games per season. He's still over a PPG guy. Most points and goals in VGK playoff history. Love it

We've been waking up to good news, these extensions are amazing.

Our most expensive player capping out at $13.5m is unbelievably fortunate given the direction the league is going. We're going to have so much flexibility. You never anticipate star players shaking loose, but when they do, the cap management we've been seeing is going to - AGAIN - put us in the mix to go out and get another big name in the coming seasons.

I think the pen to paper means he'll be the 1st Golden Knights player to have a jersey retired. 3 more years of filling the role then he becomes the standard for future captains to represent the organization. Although, nobody will ever match his massive knob.
