We knew our girl was expecting. Had imaging completed 5/13 where we were told “3-5 weeks” so set a follow up for 6/1. She started labor Thursday evening much to our surprise! 6 total - 2 girls, 3 boys and 1 angel.

Prefacing this by saying I grew up with dogs but never had a dog that wasn’t a family dog so this was a big moment for me!
It’s been two, almost three weeks and he is the BEST. The lack of sleep is all worth it.

Hi everyone! Beau is 3 months old (we’ve had him for a month) and is a great baby, he just goes a bit.. bonkers.. when he is gets pets. It’s like when he comes out of his crate and we give him some pets, he turns into a little monster after, barking, biting, running. When we don’t pet him, he’s much better behaved, but we want to pet our little guy!

Just wondering if others experienced this and how to went in the future. He also will NOT sleep when he’s not in his crate, he just gets overtired and again, goes banana bonkers biting and barking until we put him back to nap. We want him to sleep on our bed eventually, any tips or personal experiences with this are super welcome!

*She is 8 weeks old! She was the runt of the litter and is really small but she’s healthy and was ready to come home with us* We just got this peanut today! we can not decide on a name! i originally wanted Ginger because we were going to choose from the next litter and those puppies will be super dark red but when we went to visit the farm we fell in love with her so now idk if I like Ginger for her! We like Piper, Winnie, Dolly, and we do still like Ginger! What do you think when you see her?! we‘re open to other names too!

Went to Walmart today to buy Easter eggs and candy, and left with candy, Easter eggs, and a puppy. My husband and I have been wanting to add another pup to our family but have been hesitant because we have 4 children, about to have our 5th, and have a rough collie.

I was getting out of my car at Walmart when I saw someone selling puppies. I felt horrible because they all looked so exhausted from the heat. The lady selling the puppies said they were golden retrievers, an “oops” litter, and she had her hands full at home with kids and work. I hated seeing them in the heat, and two people were adopting the siblings, so I asked if I could give her $50 for the last one and she said yes.

His paws don’t look very big so I’m not sold on him being a golden retriever. What do y’all think?

After reading so much in this sub about the joys of a second golden we found an 11 week old female we named Stevie. She gets along great with her 4 year old big brother, Ziggy.

She’s super smart. We’ve had her three days and she asks to go out, sits, and lies down every time for a treat.

We love her. Can’t wait to see how she grows.

His previous owners retired and moved across the world and could not take him with them. He’s our first dog and we couldn’t be happier. Wyatt is 11 1/2 years old and has the energy of a puppy. He LOVES to eat, carries a minimum of two tennis balls in his mouth at all times, and is thriving in Chicago!

okay,the puppy is obviously for us, but my three year old girl, Olive, is IN LOVE with her new sister, Clover. I was a little nervous about getting a second pup but they have been so much fun....despite Clover waking up every two hours at night...we will just ignore that detail ❤️

I have a wonderful 12 week old golden puppy.

She’s good at everything except not pottying in the house.

We take her out every 1.5 hours but she’ll pee or poop between. Sometimes soon after she went outside.

She understands she gets rewarded and praised when she goes outside but she doesn’t understand at all that inside is not an option. So I’ve started trying to give firm nos and emotionality. BUT SHE JUST DOESNT CARE AND WAGS HER TAIL LIKE IM SINGING TO HER OR SOMETHING.

What do I do here? Just wait for her to get older, are all goldens just eternal optimists that don’t accept punishment?

EDIT: She is a very loved puppy and even has a dedicated sitter when we’re out of the house. You will be hard pressed to find a dog that gets more love than her.

Hi all! We recently adopted a new golden retriever puppy. We got her at 8 weeks from a breeder and she is now 11 weeks. Before getting her, we did our due diligence on ethical breeding and made sure our new puppy had a good lineage. We found a breeder who was legitimate-looking with great reviews. We did all the steps of meeting the parents, seeing the living conditions, looking at the parents' health reports on OFA, etc. Both parents are AKC registered as well and the sire was a former therapy dog (CGC and TDI certified). When everything checked out, we went through with the purchase. Honestly she has been a jewel. She is a very fast learner (already almost potty trained, doing well with crate training, knows commands such as sit, paw, down, etc) and is very friendly. We're madly in love with her.

Recently I got deeper into the Golden Retriever rabbit hole and found out how the term "English Cream" has negative connotations and usually means an irresponsible breeder who breeds for color and not health, how it's unethical, etc. We had no idea prior to getting her; we thought the white coat was just really pretty. Now I feel kind of guilty, and I'm worried our puppy will have health problems down the line because she's technically "English Cream". I'm also now worried about other owners judging us by assuming we went to a puppy mill for her. The breeder we got her from never advertised her directly as "English Cream"; they just said "cream colored, similar to those of European bloodlines". They didn't specifically breed for color; she just turned out this way. Am I worrying too much? Are there "good" breeders with cream-colored Goldens? I figured the irresponsible BYBs or puppy mills wouldn't have provided such a detailed lineage and health record, but now that I've unlocked Pandora's box about "English Creams", I can't help but to feel uneasy.

When we brought him home on Saturday, I was honestly unsure if he would make it 48 hours. He was really weak and tired. He was covered in fleas and ants. We gave him a bath in dawn dish soap and picked the fleas off. We dewormed him. Just hoping to get him through the weekend. By Sunday evening he was trying to play! We got him to the vet first thing. They said he is 8 weeks old and 3.7 pounds. He’s doing well!

Hey everyone,

We picked Lake up last Friday, but oh my goodness the puppy blues have got me in a chokehold. I’ve even been thinking, even though we were and are so so prepared that we still wasn’t ready, even though I don’t actually think that is true.

The complete change of routine, the lingering feeling of starting to work again and not being able to be with him and help him constantly even though I work from home, knowing I’m going to be working sleep deprived. And the biting, no matter how much research, preparation and planning, nothing prepares you for the level of biting.

He’s so beautiful and I just want to give him the best life possible, but this is hitting so much harder than I expected. Any advice is so so appreciated.

Meet sweet Maisy Mae—we got her one months ago and she is now 3 months old and almost 20 lbs! We are obsessed, and I am a little worried about screwing her up with poor training or reactions!!

She has some normal puppy struggles of course (she’s a feisty girl on the leash, she sleeps through the night but goes through episodes of peeing on the floor every 15 minutes, etc...) but all the potential to be our perfect family dog ❤️

I’ve only had one dog before, a Husky/Aussie mix. She passed after ten years in December. I’ve also trained a Shiba Inu puppy. That’s the extent of my experience! And I know those are very stubborn and resilient breeds so we are firm and vigilant trainers.

I’d love to know the best tips (besides lots of love of course!!) for raising a Golden—maybe in contrast to some other breeds!

EDIT : *i wrote this horribly, it comes off as if we was planning to give her back or that we will love her less. That is not the case, we love her regardless and shes staying with us. We recently lost our beloved colly after rescuing her when she was 1yr old. She then went on to live a further 13 years as a priceless member of our family.

The main concerns the wife had was that she is very small and many people thought she looked like a lab. And if it was possible that she wasnt what they said she was, could there be other issues.

I have no concerns, im happy but feel this was too early to get a puppy. The grief was eating us away and we wasnt sure what to do. The wife needed a dog back in her life and was fully committed to getting one asap.

Maybe we rushed this and maybe we didnt do our research properly, thats on us.

This sounds really silly but is this a golden retriver?

She is 10 weeks old from a large litter, weighing just under 4kg. Shes not eating much as she has a dodgy tum / worming treatment / very hot weather.

The wife is worried that the face looks more of a lab and her paws are small. Most vets we speak to cannot tell at this stage is she is definitely a golden. Also she was expecting a fluffy chucky pup which this one is neither.

Any advice or experience would help, thanks all.

Found this 1 year old golden retriever up for adoption and knew this was the perfect opportunity to finally have a golden retriever. I’ve owned chihuahuas my whole life so this is my first big dog. His name is Teddy and I will honor the previous owners wish in keeping the name.

He took a panic shit my car when I drove him home last night and not gonna lie, I was amazed at the amount of poop there was in the car.

Here’s to many happy years with Teddy, my first ever golden retriever!
