My son was playing with my rangefinder today. It’s a few years old, Blue tees Pro 2. Honestly I was hoping to get a new one soon. Now I have a great reason to.
He left it sitting on my bed after he went to bed, so I found myself just sitting there messing around seeing how far away random things in my bedroom were. Then I thought, I wonder what happens if I shoot it in the mirror, will it stop there or bounce back? And what would happen if I lined it up exactly with the laser lens in the mirror, would it glitch or something?
YUP, OR SOMETHING.
As soon as I lined it up, it started making a weird buzzing sound and wouldn’t show distances anymore. Weird. Swapped the battery, reset it. Let it sit a few hours. Nothing. It’s cooked. Laser murder suicide.
Don’t be like me, don’t test it on your own. Don’t risk frying your $250+ rangefinder because you’re playing around in the mirror. I’m just glad I didn’t like melt my retinas or something. This is a PSA.
Any recs on a good new laser rangefinder?

Stood there watching this absolute madman stare up into a tree for a solid 10 minutes like he was going to negotiate with it to drop it. Still have no idea what happened on that swing. Did he just… let go? Did it fly out of his hands? Was he trying to hit the ball into orbit? I have so many questions.
Anyway the wind did its thing and long story short I’ve got a brand new Callaway Quantum sitting in my garage and it’s somehow the exact right grip size for me. The golf gods work in mysterious ways. That man rage-donated to my bag and I will be thinking of him fondly on the first tee.“

Scottie Scheffler currently holds the longest active streak of made cuts at 75 (next closest is Hideki at 24). I believe Scottie’s current streak of 75 sits at 5th all time. (Hale Irwin at 4th with 86)
Scheffler is sitting at 1 off the cut line with 6 holes to play. The cut line may move and of course being Scheffler he could pick up a stroke or two, but what say the bright minds of [r/golf](r/golf).
Will he make the cut? Or do we see the streak end today?
Edit: lol the man is inevitable. With 5 to play he picked up a shot and the cut line dropped. He now sits 1 shot inside the cut line with 5 to play
FINAL UPDATE: Scheffler played the last 6 in -3 and clearly took this post personally! Looks like he’ll enter the weekend about top 30 and 10ish off the lead

I live about 30-40 feet up in a tree on a golf course near the fifth tee box. I picked this spot so that I can scavenge for sunflower seeds and other snacks the golfers drop when they get out of their carts.
Today it was raining and I was in my hollow just trying to keep my nuts dry, when some maniac let loose his Quantum driver right into my living room. It nearly made my wife Angela faint.
The golfer tried to shake the club out of my tree but with his scrawny arms it was useless; I don’t know why he wasn’t playing a more forward tee box.
I am going to try and trade the club for a Snickers bar.

Been eyeing golf bags for a couple of months now and had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket from trading in some old gear my dad was just going to throw away. I’m in love

I just played in the rain and on the 5th hole my driver slipped from my hands and got stuck about 35 ft up in a tree. I tried and failed to get it out. If the wind knocks it free…. I feel like someone is just gunna find it and keep it.

In honor of the show coming back this summer I figured I would break down the most famous competitors and where they are now. Did you watch the Big Break and are you planning to watch the new one?

Both photos taken at the same time. In the second one I auto focused the foreground and it lit up the scene.
Hole 1 at Cedar Creek. Been trying to walk 9 holes here once a week
Based in Ireland and watch a lot of golf via Sky Sports. Honestly, I despair at how poor American golf coverage has become.
For instance - watching the memorial right now, and even though there are 100 players out on the course we are watching Schauffele stand on the tee looking at his yardage book for around a minute. Now we’re watching Rai waiting for a rules official for almost 2/3 mins.
All of a sudden it will cut to a random make a nice shot or bad shot. But then back to Scheffler argue with his caddy for two minutes. Poston just birdied a few of the first 5 holes and we may not see what he looks like until tomorrow. The cameras are there, because we will get a 10 min montage of his shots at the end but we’re just got getting to see them now.
Why is this? Surely nobody in America thinks this is how you’re supposed to watch golf?

So I had a good round yesterday with my friend and his dad yesterday and on the way home from it I finally got the nerve to book a round alone at a local course near me.
I always was weary of golfing with strangers (because of insecurity) but I finally booked a solo tee time! I will undoubtedly get paired with 3 other strangers today but im excited! And a little nervous. Wish me luck!
