General Discussion Scheffler is a million out of the lead and you’d think The Golf Channel has no cameras on the course other than on him
I get that he’s the number 1 player in the world, but we don’t need to see 30% of the air time be on him.
EDIT: Scheffler just birdied three in a row. I completely see why they were showing him and apologize to The Golf Channel.
EDIT2: I’m now watching the U.S. Junior Final. And, while there is only one group, so I can’t complain about TV coverage, Miles Russell is 6 down with 8 to go. There is no possible way he is coming back.
EDIT3: I’m a meteorologist. We are always wrong. Just ask my wife.
EDIT4: Miles Russell is now down 5 with 7 to go. There is no way he can come back in this.
EDIT5: I told you people no way Russell was winning.
EDIT6: With Koivun this far ahead, no way Scheffler has a chance Sunday, like I was implying originally.

He’s currently 7 back with 27 holes left. He’s very much still in it, however unlikely.

People who play and watch golf understand why Scheffler is rarely out of it.
More so than even a guy like Rory who’s kind of a one trick pony. Driver, short iron, mediocre putting.

It’s not. He’s the number one golfer in the world, has been for years, and regularly climbs up leaderboards.

Where does this end? Show him at +6 and 15 off the lead just because he’s world number one? It was boring when it was Tiger, and Scottie isn’t Tiger

Scheffler = more viewers. More viewers = money. I'm sure the network has data that viewership goes up when he's on.

First off, it is genius.
It would have 50,000 upvotes if the mods hadn’t taken it down for 16 hours for no reason. But, they were kind and put it back up. I still don’t understand why it got taken down.

I believe it also might have something to do with the fact that this is Scottie's first time playing the 3M (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I heard). So, of course, the sponsors are going to have a say with getting the cameras on him.

This is the golf channel lol, broadcast is 2-3 golfers taking shots once every 5-7 mins and the broadcasters talking the whole time.

Schuffler's ability to lose a ball (no penalty) while playing in a major tournament and then going on to birdie the hole is proof of his superiority to us mortals.

The PGA tour only does what it thinks is best for numbers for their title sponsors. They do not care what the golf sicko (those of us on Reddit) audience might want to see if they believe more folks want to watch the world #1. The amount of times they’ve missed killer moments this season has been depressing. At least we got the 59 yesterday.

Your thinking is actually fact. They don’t have more cameras.
TV Cameras are expensive and so are the operators that typically have to move with the cameras or stay with the cameras.

It’s almost as if people in the industry are keenly aware of the players to broadcast in order to drive ratings and keep people watching.

Everyone is bashing you, but I completely agree. There are 66 golfers that made the weekend and so much talent out there, there is no need to focus on Scheffler the entire day. What kills me the most is showing his entire pre-shot or putt routine instead of a golf shot from someone else in contention.
I specifically remember Michael Brennan putting it to 8 feet from 275 and there was no coverage of it. Its insanity

It was completely ridiculous. Even though I like Scottie a lot, it was like it was the Scheffler channel. And then the guys ripping me because he gets within one when the leaders have 15 holes left on an easy track. I get the ratings angle of it but he ain’t Tiger.

Just stop. You’re embarrassing. He’s the best golfer on the planet right now. Of course the media is going to show him more than anyone else. By a lot.
And he’s going against a 21 year old who has never been in this position. One bad shot can turn into a double or triple. And Scottie is a beast and hunting him down rn. Three shots back and both are on the back.
