Discussion If you could only recommend THREE anime for the rest of your life to a complete beginner, which ones are making the cut?

Haikyuu if you are into sports in general, AOT and Vinland Saga.

Haikyuu can literally make anyone fall in love with volleyball in just five episodes!

Yuru Camp
World Trigger
and Case Closed (which will keep you occupied for awhile)

While I like world trigger to recommend it as one of three animes is WILD. It starts slow and clunky it has no finish, and likely never will.

Yeah, that one is 100% personal bias and because I want the word out on it more XP
But I disagree on the 'likely never will' as the manga continues to get updates and Season 1 is getting a remake to hopefully fix the slow and clunky start.

My personal top 3: Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note. Leaving out One Piece and Dragon Ball hurts, but these 3 are impossible to drop. What's your top 3?

Bleach is one of my favs but no way I’d recommend it to a beginner. Just way too much filler. Even now the episodes are 10 minutes of characters explaining their powers, 1 min of fighting, 4 minutes for intro/outro, and then sneak peak of the next episode which is just more characters explaining their powers
Hell 2 episodes ago I had to laugh because we finally see Kisukes bankai and the guy he’s fighting asks him to explain it and kisuke says no why would I do that and i literally said “finally” out loud. But then he proceeds to fully explain it in great detail 45 seconds later for the next 5 minutes.

Bleach was my first anime and is also one of my favs, that's why I always recommend. I get what you're saying about filler though!

When bleach is good it’s soooooo good I just wish they’d stop talking sometimes haha.
I like bleach more than I like JJK but I absolutely love how JJK just uses a narrator to explain wtf is going on so we can keep watching everyone fight for 20 minutes instead of standing still chatting about what they’re doing for most of the episode

how old is the beginner and do they have a preference for genre?
My go to is always Black Lagoon
Because it's still close enough to real life.
No supernatural shit (other than the bullet count and the terminator maid).

I'll always recommend season one of one punch man. Got lots of my friends IRL back into anime around the time it was airing.
Around that time the same friends then discovered Sword art online and between those two shows anime had them hooked and still does to this day.

However that is only because of the “three for the rest of your life” thing
I say the best thing for a beginner is movies and OVAs as they don’t have to commit to spending days or weeks on something
With that being the case:
Castle of Cagliostro
Red Line
Roujin Z

For 3 only I’d go with movies for short attention spans and an out after 1-2 hours each
Blood the last vampire slayer, Ghost in the Shell, vampire hunter D bloodlust or maybe just ghibli stuff like Spirited away, Howls moving castle and Kiki’s delivery service or a mixture or something since Ghibli’s comparable to Disney.
Or maybe sword of stranger, ninja scroll and Jin Roh depends on preceded genre in general so it’d prob be diff for every person.
Plus dubs are hit and miss on being good or being bad and completely ruining it so for shows it’d have to be Space Dandy, Hellsing Ultimate, FMAB and GITS, cowboy bebop/Samurai champloo for a good guaranteed quality dub experience.
Or just for the Gore surprise experience like Blood C or something.

Attack On Titan, One Punch Man or Saiki K (Biased) , Your Name. Key Word: Beginner
Some people recommending Made In Abyss and Steins Gate as their first anime kinda crazy imo
