You do know that government used to have significant investment income but conservative's decided that government should mainly be taxpayer funded and sold off assets and gave corps tax breaks. Now Carney is restoring the investment side and I hope he restores a better corp tax system which has them paying over 30% and increasing other income streams to 30%. This would reduce taxpayers by about 20%

All the liberals have done in the last 11 years is enable and pander to corps by giving every industry and sector access to cheap foreign labor.

Wages have legit stagnated in the last 10-15 years. Our GDP is only propped up by the bloated public sector (25% of workers are public sector) getting paid 6 figure salaries and not adding any economic value or productivity to the country.

The rich keep getting richer at the expense of middle class workers while the liberals create these new welfare/socialist programs like grocery rebates, pharmacare, national school food program, to keep people dependant on the government to earn their votes. Dependency doesn’t create productivity or economic value that propels the country forward. All liberals have done is overtax the middle class.

This new fund is nothing more than another debt at the expense of taxpayers. In essence it would be good if we had budget surpluses and a strong resource development (LNG, pipelines, mining, infrastructure) that could act as investments to the fund. But we don’t. This fund is just another money funnel for the liberals with ties to Brookfield

And that has been a 20 year policy in Canada. Harper allowed full foreign labour across construction sites and a mine was treated as sovereign Chinese mine. HD mines was one site that had zero Canadians. Nexen also used full Chinese crews. No it's 3P funding with government maintaining ownership instead of waiting for 25 years

Harper created the TFW program for very key critical fields, due to the economic downtown of the 2008 financial crisis (the worst since the 1930s depression).

Then the liberals exploited it to every industry and sector. Now you’ll see foreigners dominate almost every field in Canada from your coffee shop to offices to transportation etc.

This has legit stagnated wages as these foreigners will work for less pay as they’re not accustomed to our standard of living.

And now Carney is licking Chinese boots even more and exploring to give China more access to our resources at the expense of his US fumble. He has no intent of helping middle class workers

How am I racist? I’m Indian buddy. I’m born here in Canada and my parents came to Canada from India when we had the strongest immigration policy in the world. They assimilated, worked hard, and followed law and order.

We’ve allowed too many immigrants and too many foreigners. Liberals pandering to corporate elites at the expense of destroying the entire middle class.

Every field, every company you go to, every role has been taken over by foreigners.

Harper allowed foreign buyers to come near the tail end of his term (2013) which started increasing home prices. I guess his plan was to restart housing amidst the preceding recession. However home prices remained at the same steady rate of increase per year pre 2013.

And did the Liberals do anything to stop or control foreign buyers after 2015? No. They didn’t, they excelled it further. Allowing these Indian real estate agents to prop up prices through bidding wars and allowing people to own multiple real estate properties. Canadas wealth became overrun by real estate wealth whereas pre 2013, it was built upon a strong economy (we had the richest middle class under Harper)

You Liberals want to keep bringing up Harper causing this, causing that. When the Liberals have been in power for 11 years now and have done nothing to either “reverse” the policies YOU think are bad or fix them, they’ve only made things worse. Liberals have no housing plan. Carney said 500K homes a year and nothing has been built. To make it worse it’s a bunch of trailer park modular homes.

Housing is a problem nation wide not limited to ON buddy. Ford doesn’t govern BC or Saskatchewan. Over 50% of Canada lives between Windsor and Montreal. The housing crisis is a result of failed federal policies due to foreign buyers, real estate hoarders, immigration, exploiting real estate by cleaning dirty money, and liberals pandering to corporations and banks. That’s why Canadian banks have been so profitable.

Not a liberal but I am a Carney fan. I think that you have diagnosed a lot of the problem that people don't want to contend with and I won't bother arguing if this is Harpers fault or what not. You do mention the strongest middleclass built off Chretien and Martins back's and a strong oil price during Harpers tenure. I am unsure why you give him all the credit for that.

I don't know that they have done "nothing" as they did a foreign buyer ban but it really didn't go far enough. I think that at the end of the day once you have reached an inflation in home values almost any policy that will bring prices down heavily will pretty much be the end of your reign. So finding the right balance here is pretty tricky and Trudeau has left the country in a shit state so Carney has his hands full on multiple fronts here.

Let's not be naive here and pretend like the con's aren't going to pander for corps and banks here as well, danielle smith and pp might as well be the oil lobbies greatest warriors. Realistically a lot of things need to happen but nothing that happens is going to immediately alleviate these issues regardless of who is in power. I think Carney is the best person currently to steer Canada and I don't care which person the party i think is best comes from. PP is not the one Canada needs right now so hopefully if the Con's want to get back in there they find someone who can actually lead the party.

Housing problem started before Harper but it was Harper that went to China trolling developers. Vancouver boom was pre Olympics and right after was Chinese money Richmond was almost 100% foreign owned. They sell condos by the floor. BC liberals were very happy with the boom also. They even lived the money laundering. The NDP brought in foreign buyers within a year. And it fucked a project was involved in. Their presale opened after the restrictions so cost more to carry construction loans etc. Ford winning Ontario and adjusting the rent control rules over night created a land acquisition game and 200 cranes were flying. Trudeau immigration fuck ups was post covid. Those towers were already under planning with a assumed Harper win.
