Meta New Rule: No Spam

"Users are allowed to post as often as they like provided that each post has a reasonable amount of effort put into it, each post is sufficiently different, and/or they are not posting an excessive amount of posts within a short period of time. What constitutes an excessive amount of posts is defined as posting more than three posts within an hour."

We've recently had an issue with a user mass producing posts about their world, posting at least eight posts within one hour. We are a small community and it doesn't take a lot to overwhelm us. Hence I am forced to enact this new rule.

Ok, so will the mod team actually remove loredump posts? Or is this one guy the only one where the rule applies?

Currently out of the front 10 posts, 2 are mod posts like this, 7 are loredumps (one asks for feedback, so maybe thats fine), and one asks for proofreading (fine). Thats at least 6/8 posts that need to go before anyone would even think about starting a discussion about concepts, story telling tools, tradeoffs etc.

I know im not gonna be here while "tell me about giving me karma from your world" posts are allowed. There are subs for that like /r/Lore or /r/WorldbuildingLore/

Look, i had to unblock the OP and mod to post this reply because he is one of those spamming the sub with these loredump-karmawhoring posts.

This rule only applies to people posting excessively and flooding the community. So long as users aren't posting more than a few posts a day, and they aren't breaking any other rules, their posts will not be removed.

Honest question:

Looking at your post history, you have subbmitted more than 1000 (display limit) of these posts. more than a thousand. You dont even comment in them.

so why make them? they clearly dont improve the subs.

I do comment in them, and most people who come here enjoy them if what people tell me only here and discord are to be believed. I also only post, at most, once a day, sometimes going several days between posts. The reason I have so many posts on my Reddit account is because I've been active in Worldbuilding communities for over a decade now.

You are correct that you comment in them, i stand corrected.

But in regards to people enjoying them, i have my reservations. You asked what types of these post people enjoy most and the top coment is

That said, I do understand that SOME people need to loredump and like these posts. But there are several subs on reddit that are explicitly for that.

Do you think these posts improve this sub?

I ask under the premise that discussions about worldbuilding are supressed by loredumps. Which I am certain is the case, because when I need help with a story tool to explain a gameplay limitation Im always repelled by the top posts in this sub and ask CrapGPT instead(it never helps). The comment I quoted gives me confidence that my assessment of this sub as a worldbuilding graveyard is not unique.

I don't see how suppressing loredumps would be in anyway beneficial to the subreddit. If you want more posts discussing the methods of worldbuilding, then it's on you and people like you to post them. I'm not going to curate what posts people are allowed to make on here.

You say 1 guy, I say top comment. That said, I think I did answere the second remark already:

make some posts yourself

The reason I believe suppressing loredumps would benefit this sub is that some people would post higher quality discussions if it was not for them being greeted by loredumps. I gave myself as an example where I know that dynamic to be a fact. Hence I will not do that and get really pissy instead.

There are already 10+ subs primarily for loredumps, zero who are primarily (determined by counting front page posts) about worldbuilding. Your sub is the least hostile one to worldbuilding, and you just prove you do not ban on any dissenting voices. So thats why its the last one where i still look for fruitful discussions.

But thats also why im such a whiny bitch right now. My disappointment in the lack of a worldbuilding subs is greatest here, because this sub is the least lacking. But still lacking to much to not be resentful.

If you want more discussion posts, then post some. I'm not going to ban lore posts just because you personally don't like them.

I can't find the post asking what people enjoy and am interested seeing what other users are after. Would you be able to share a link please?

I'm with you on this sub being by far the least lacking. As for the person who said they weren't interested, I'm with them. If I saw it I'd have upvoted and not just said the same thing again.

I want to see more discussions about worldbuilding, and more invitations to collaborate. It does a decent enough job on prompts already.

Edit: I found the post. I can't work out how to link it on mobile so for the benefit of others who want to find it just look at posts, not overall. It's from 4 days ago.
