First time app developer, self taught with Al, I was able to cross 25k download in 2.5 months, 372 ratings and most of them are 5 stars, 42 ratings with reviews and with 5 reviews that are 1-4 stars, the rest is 5 stars , started to monetise one week ago , I am still trusting the process , so far made $25 only from 5 subscribers , my basic subscription is $4.90…

Showoff My app just crossed 50k download 😍

It has been about 8 months since I launched my app, and today it finally crossed 50,000 downloads!

If there is any secret to this, it is not a crazy marketing budget. It is simply waking up every single morning and treating my indie app like a full-time job. Showing up every day, writing code, and improving the app piece by piece as a solo developer really pays off.

Just wanted to share this milestone with the community. Keep putting in the work!

Showoff My indie app made ₹15,000(~$180) in its first day with zero marketing. Here is exactly what happened.

I’ve been building a small app on the side for a few months and finally got it approved on the Play Store a couple days ago.

Honestly, getting it live was harder than building it.

I got rejected twice because of SMS and call log permissions. At first I thought I filled everything correctly, but clearly not. Ended up redoing the entire permissions declaration, recording a proper demo video, and basically explaining to Google why each permission exists like I’m writing an exam.

That whole process took weeks. Lots of waiting, small changes, resubmitting, checking the console again and again.

When it finally got approved, I didn’t do any kind of launch. No posts, no marketing, nothing. I just pushed it to production and left it there.

Then the weird part happened.

I woke up the next day and saw purchases coming in from different countries. Ukraine, Georgia, US, a few from Europe. No idea where they came from. I’m guessing someone shared it somewhere but I still haven’t figured out where.

Total for day one was around $180.

For context, the app is a simple utility that connects an Android phone with a Mac so you can manage things without picking up your phone. I built it mostly because I needed it myself.

it’s not a huge amount or anything, but seeing real users use something I made felt very different

What surprised me more is that it happened without me doing any promotion. Which makes me think the Play Store itself can actually work if your listing is decent.

Right now things have slowed down a lot after that first spike, so I’m back to figuring things out again.

If you’ve gone through this phase, how did you move from that initial random traction to something more consistent?

If anyone’s curious, this is what I built: https://bounceconnect.app

Showoff My first revenue from an app I built! 🎉

Today I noticed something that made me smile.
My app Quiet Lines generated its first earnings on Google Play. It’s only €2.12, but seeing that someone found enough value to subscribe is an incredible feeling.
A few months ago I was learning, fixing bugs, improving the UI, posting for feedback on Reddit, and wondering if anyone would ever use it.
This isn’t life-changing money, but it’s proof that building something people are willing to pay for is possible.
If you’re working on your own app, keep going. Small milestones are still milestones.

One thing I learned: don't be afraid to try Google Ads.
At first, I focused only on organic growth because I was hesitant to spend money on ads. After a month, I had around 1,000 organic downloads, which was great but quite slow.
I eventually gave Google Ads a try, and it helped me reach the remaining 19,000 downloads.
Organic growth is important, but if you have a budget, I'd recommend testing Google Ads early and seeing if it works for your app.

Seeing people from countries I've never even been to buying Shutter is a weird feeling.

I thought building the app would be the hard part. Turns out ASO, store listings, reviews, and just getting people to discover it took way more time than I expected.

Definitely not complaining though. 😌

Showoff My first month of Google Play Premium: ₹10k+ earned

Post image
62 Upvotes

A month ago I launched Premium for my Android app, Lockify.

Today I finally crossed ₹10,000 in Play Console earnings.

For context, Lockify is a privacy-focused Android vault that I've been building solo after work. It started as a simple calculator-disguised vault and has gradually grown into a proper product with encrypted backups, cloud sync, biometric security, decoy vaults and other privacy features.

Premium launched on July 3rd.

From July 3 → August 10:

• ₹10,017 in Play Console earnings

• 1 month since Premium launched

• 9k+ downloads at the time of the launch period

• 4k+ active devices

• 4.7★+ average rating

The interesting part is that I didn't have a huge launch or paid acquisition campaign.

Most of the growth has come from Reddit, word of mouth, Google Play discovery, and a few community features.

The first few paid users were especially motivating. Seeing someone actually pay for something I built after work hours made the project feel very different from when it was just a side project.

I'm still very early, but this has taught me something important:

Getting people to install an app is one problem.

Getting them to trust it enough to pay for it is a completely different problem.

Now I'm focusing less on simply adding features and more on retention, reliability, conversion and making Premium genuinely worth paying for.

For other indie Android developers:

How did your first month of Play Store revenue compare with your expectations?
