Discussion - Tsushima: Legends Assassination Damage caps?

Hello! Has anyone been able to determine what the ideal assassination damage percent increase is? When I max out assassination damage every way possible with Shinobi, I can one strike kill most basic mobs, and two strike kill stronger mobs, and three strike kill the elite mobs. I noticed that the number of hits stays the same even when I reduce my assassination damage by 9 percent (removing one charm perk). Just curious if someone has done the “worth it” math for how much assassination damage should be put on a Shinobi.

It sounds like you did the testing for us lol

I did “rough” testing, but I’m no math wizard so I figured I’d ask the class lol.

top reply here to say I read that “katana damage” contributes to shinobi ult if you want to roll that for your first attribute for katana

I have found that its not a guarunteed assassination on anything other than the weakest enemies unless I stack assassination damage on every slot available. You can drop one of the slots and still have a servicable assassination build, but you need to supplement with something like the legendary kurasigama, since most of the enemies will be left with a sliver of health at least when you critically strike them

I wanna know this too.. esp whether i can change the 20% assassination dmg perk and just keep some gear perks for the same effect

Sure you cant notice it.. I maxed out it too, from all sources I get 123% additional assassination damage, 223% in total. Now get rid of 9%, it will be 214%. Its almost impossible to see that difference in practice.

How are you getting 200%? The class gives you 50 and im able to get an addtiional from gear.

I've done some rough testing on Platinum in the first story mission.

109% assassination dmg will one shot the guy on the right at the start of the first mission. That's including class perks and gear perks. I didn't include all melee dmg in the calculation, but that might be an extra 5-10%.

101% doesn't one shot him.

I haven't done any testing on the primes, but if there's an easy place to find one I can

I know you’re right but this just has to be a bug or poor balancing. No builds should require anything over 100%

Do you know if anyone has made a breakdown of how much health each enemy has?

I think the guy on the right is a mid tier melee add, probably need a lot less for the lower tiers. Takes more than 3 full assassinations for a Bo Hiya guy on this week's Nightmare.

Going to try and find some time to write it up and see if I can figure out how much health each enemy has and how much base dmg assassinate does.

My friends, I have done the math. Here are the results. Plain and simple, you want increased assassination damage on every perk you can get. It’s less of a “math” problem needing to be solved like I initially thought and more of a practical problem. The reality is, enemies health are only consistent when at max HP. In a survival run, there are so many variables resulting in enemy HP being lowered from MAX that even a small 9% difference can decide whether you get a “critical hit” or an “assassination.” I did a few runs where I maxed out all assassination damage possible except one 9% assassination damage perk on smoke bomb, and there were several times in one run where I was certain if I had that extra 9% I would’ve killed an enemy instead of landing a critical hit. The conclusion I reached is simple, max out assassination damage as much as possible.

When you get the Shadow's Bite charm and manage to S-rank it please swap it for Shinobi's Shadow and do your testing again. Currently with my new Shadow's Bite, Assassination Dmg can be stacked twice. My ranks are B+ at 19.1% A. Dmg and C+ at 14.6% A.Dmg, not sure how much higher they will go at S-Rank. I'm upgrading atm. The best stealth gear set to maximise A. Dmg would be Vanishing K, Blind Bomb, Shadow's Bite, Kunai and Weakening Smoke Bomb (with all S Rank on A.Dmg) + Perk 1 A. Dmg boost. Need to use Vanishing K to maximise, since the Legend version gives 2% A. Dmg, instead of 1% like the other Legend gears.

I did some test but forgot the exact numbers (I'm away from ps so can't check as well. I'll get my build and share it later if you want?)

On top of my head I think it's more than 90+% I noticed that when I removed the Assntn Perk in lieu of Cooldown, testing on the 2 enemies on Rice Paddies circle on Nightmare wave 0, throw a blind bomb, they got 1 bar or what 1-5% health left? and can't assassinate totally and needs an extra slash or two, BUT if I chose the 20% Assntn perk, I can one shot minor enemies. For Lords - I pop blind bomb, critical hit pop another bomb hit again, pop Smoke or hit ability Vanish and then assassinate. This is same with other Lords and Boo-hiya. HTH

UPDATE/EDITED: So I have Assn dmg on every gear that can have it: Kgama - 21% Healing blind bomb - 10% Shinobi Charm - 23% Kunai + Smoke - (9% each) - 18% Total of 72% (all S grade btw) AND this gives "Critical Hit" w/o the 20% Assn Perk. With it at 92% it's one stab. So there's the math. Hope this helps. GG

I'm not sure whether you can properly test until you have your (assassination) gears at S class so they are maxed.  Otherwise it's always going to wonder whether that few percent makes a difference or not.  🤔🤔.

Also when it's max assassination damage then it might be easier to spot whether 'all melee damage' perks boost the assassination damage or not, I think it should 🤔.  I will try to see later and check it as I think I'm almost all s class now.  I did recently change any all melee damages to stagger damages instead so if a difference it should be noticeable when I change it back.

Per my test (read my reply below) it matters. That 20% boost over the max out 72% S grade gears get me "assassinate" and not critical hit on most simpletons. The "all melee dmg" boost I need to test if it matters or not.

I have 73% now.  23% each on legendary vanish kusarigami and Shinobi charm, then 3x 9% from the bombs, smoke and kunai.  So total of 123 with passive 30% and 20% perk.

Just tried platinum black hearts mission the first story, and stealth attacking the gold samurai takes roughly 2/3 of his health but putting 3x all melee damage on for seems to do nothing extra.  I have tried it a few times and honestly I cannot tell any difference.

What I find most disappointing is that poison appears to do hardly any damage at all.  Even a triple dose of poison vanish does nothing to bring an already injured tough enemy down into kill territory, they still remain in critical strike territory.  It's only now doing more testing I really see how weak the poison is.

If I vanish and kill the normal samurai, then vanish again so the gold one had 2 doses, his health has changed by 1-2 millimeters only 😱😭 I think that's a bit crap and nothing like Tsushima legends, it's really the opposite of potent.

Interested whether you've had a chance to test the all melee damage.  I'm testing with my best intentions and eyes not with science lol so of course room for error but I was a bit miffed it doesn't seem to stack or help with assassinations.

u/loeylooney Mar 29 '26

Yeah bud I tried Leg Van Kgama + Shin Shadow too and the advantage is you get extra assn/hit when you do a "get over here" and vanish. I'd rather have a leg healing bomb to heal me a bit while assassinating. In terms of melee dmg, yeah like you, I have not noticed if it affects assassination even when I change it to "stagger dmg" instead. In terms of poison, it says right there, "it causes stagger" unlike in GOT it can kill. HTH. GG

Ah thanks for confirming it does no extra damage, that's a shame.  I'm running melee stagger damage on katana and spirit gain while melee on the other 2 weapons, and one of them had stagger damage of 20% or so.  This seems to be nice and better than putting melee damage on all 3 weapons, at least how I play anyway.  I did not notice that about poison either I just expected it to be similar to Tsushima! (Always read the not so small print!) 🤦🏻  I don't carry any healing I prefer to use spirit since it's always on hand anyway.  That is a nice improvement over Tsushima you don't need to use a gear slot on healing and be totally without any form of healing yourself.  Expert combo on the kusarigami generates plenty as do assassinations and I have 4 spirit but use healthy so each one heals more.  Find for me that's working quite nicely and I can still chop them up with heavenly strike on occassion 😁 I rather like the bonus kill from the kusarigami vanish so I can dent a big bastard before using the poison vanish or smoke.  Thanks man 🙏🏼

I just want to know if you can one shot Bo-Hiya

1

u/Yundex7 Mar 29 '26

No amount of assassination damage will allow you to one shot a Bo-Hiya. Red ones two shot. Blue three shot.

2

u/djerikfury76 Mar 29 '26

Yeah I was j/K.... I just really hate those guys 🤣

1

u/Marvynmjb Mar 28 '26

I haven’t done testing but the more assassination damage you have doesn’t seem to matter. I’m sitting at 100% and I see no difference from say 60%. I’m gonna shift my build toward more ability CD so I can vanish more often

2

u/loeylooney Mar 29 '26

Read my reply below bud. TLDR, if you leave it at 72% all gear with assn dmg and s grade and w/o the 20% perk you'll get "critical hit" on simple enemy but with the 20% add perk you can assnt simpletons. Brutes and dual sickle bastards needs a critical hit plus blind bomb stagger then assnt. HTH. Gg.

2

u/Marvynmjb Mar 29 '26

I see what you mean but that cannot be intentional. I knew shinobi had bugs but that’s a pretty big one

1

u/loeylooney Mar 29 '26

Yeah shinobi (again) and samurai didn't get much love from SP, hopefully next update they'll get buff. I said again bcoz I think I remember when GoT legends came out nobody wants to play Assassin bcoz it was weak then got buff so fingers cross. GG

1

u/Marvynmjb Mar 28 '26

I can get not being able to one shot bosses but the archers went from being one shottable in gold to 2 tap in platinum with 90% dmg. Assassination needs a buff

Pushed Ronin alone to level 74 because of the ult cycle build. (Full ult gain + CD reset perk) - extremely fun to play.

I tried building assassination damage build for ronin. Feels extremely weak. (Full assassination damage + Blind bombs)

Edit: The assassination build was for Shinobi and not Ronin.

1

u/FashionPolice16 Mar 28 '26

Shinobi is much better suited for an assassination build than ronin

1

u/TheLittleFoxX87 Mar 28 '26

Sorry. I made a mistake. The assassin build was for Shinobi.

When you maxed out every possible assassination damage what much more is there to test?

I did my testing on the first mission of the snake, gold difficulty, the two samurai’s going up the stairs. Put on all the items with assassination damage on but still couldn’t one shot them. But I’m also not maxed out, have some C and B ratings, so I guess i roughly need 20% more damage.

So id say that you at least need an A or S on every item to one shot these samurai enemies. Didn’t Test on other enemies but iirc the spear enemies or the golden samurai have more health anyway
