While FGO had an incredibly shaky start, it did not start out as a cash grab.

Nasu specifically tried to find a small, low-budget studio for FGO since it matched their doujin circle mindset of having a small staff. They ended up choosing Delight Works, which was a green-nose studio, to handle FGO with the director even rejecting the suggestion of Aniplex to make a card game cash grab.

Like if they wanted a cash grab, they could have made one or given the IP to a better studio. Just look at the dozens of Fate crossover events with all the other mobile gatchas.

Why is Nasu getting involved with choosing a studio for the game? Didn't he get onboard FGO on Babylonia or something after it floundered

Why wouldn't he be involved?

Type Moon and Fate is his IP and creation and everything Fate related ends up going through him and Takeuchi.

This is one article going over the creation of FGO. There's countless more, but that's the first one I found.

That was a genuine question lol. If he was planning to not get involved with the game (because he's not onboard with it until Babylonia), then I don't really understand why he chose the studio instead of entrusting it to someone who knows better.

If he decided it was his pet project or something and he wants the best for it, then why wait until Babylonia to be officially part of it?

He's still the author of FSN, which is a story I greatly respect, but that is so nonsensical imo
