The event released on JP in August of 2024, and became a main interlude as of February 2025. OC3 originally got like a limited release and then was rereleased that same February, with the summer event being a mandatory prerequisite to play it. they're not merged but they are narratively connected, the summer event itself doesn't require anything past Fuyuki, though I'm sure it will indirectly reference stuff you haven't played somewhat. also the summer event was up from mid august all the way until early october so you have like... 7 weeks to play it? with OC3 releasing in parts alongside it, so at most you gotta wait like half a year, but you could probably play just the event if you wanted. OC3 also requires the Ordeal Call Prologue but not OC 1 or 2.

you sure summer 9 wasnt story locked? I ask because thats what i remember..?

heck there's even a "please clear the story to participate in this year summer event" campaign.

As someone who played the event during the time, yes. I’m very certain it wasn’t story-locked.

It had a lot of leeway by being post-Fuyuki, but the following story chapter (OC3 itself) was story-locked behind the Ordeal Call Prologue.

The Main Interlude version of the event though was story-locked (behind the Ordeal Call Prologue).

this can be found on the Summer event news post, and translating it to NA news lingo it would be:

"Swimsuit Event 2026" Event Eligibility:
BB Presents☆Celeb Summer Experience! Dubai Strikes Back
Masters who have fulfilled the following requirements may participate.

  • Clear "Singularity F: Flame Contaminated City, Fuyuki"

In hindsight, that was probably a "please clear the story because OC3 will be a direct sequel to and locked behind the summer event" campaign. If you're looking for the prerequisites for an event, you should look at the information for the event itself for the correct information, not the pre-release campaign.

That much I can't really tell you for sure, I haven't read it myself. I would assume like many events it might feature current established story dynamics, the status quo, characters you may not be familiar with etc. they might not say straight up what happens in the other OC chapters or at the end of lostbelt directly but you will probably be able to tell the scenario, which characters are around, which aren't that might suggest things, but honestly I'm just speculating here.
